FAC Weekly Update
October 11, 2023
Good Afternoon, FAC Family
We hope that you had a terrific week! Believe it or not, we have arrived at the completion of the 1st quarter of the 23-24 school year. After 9 weeks of hard week, fall break is upon us. We hope you have a wonderful long weekend, and look forward to seeing our students for the start of the 2nd quarter next Monday.
Here's the latest from the halls of the FAC...
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
Working as a Team - from Creativity, Inc.
- “Getting the right people and the right chemistry is more important than getting the right idea.”
- “If you give a good idea to a mediocre team, they will screw it up. If you give a mediocre idea to a brilliant team, they will either fix it or throw it away and come up with something better.”
- “When it comes to creative inspiration, job titles and hierarchy are meaningless.”
- “Don’t wait for things to be perfect before you share them with others. Show early and show often. It’ll be pretty when we get there, but it won’t be pretty along the way."
- “You don’t have to ask permission to take responsibility.”
- “When faced with a challenge, get smarter.”
Ed Catmull with Amy Wallace; Creativity, Inc. - Overcoming the Unseen Forces that Stand in the Way of True Inspiration
Congratulations to Lillian Mozie!
FAC Dancer Lillian Mozie (Grade 12) is under consideration for recognition as a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Lilly is eligible for this award due to being named a YoungArts National Finalist last school year. Best of luck to Lilly as she moves forward in the application process!
About the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts. In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
