May I start by extending a very warm welcome back to school to you after our recent half-term holiday.
This week we have been as busy as ever with our curriculum learning and we have welcomed some wonderful visitors into school. Please read on to find out more.
This Week
Visitors from Equilibria - Leeds
On Tuesday, we welcomed two ladies from Equilibria in Leeds who came to deliver a whole school assembly and some workshops in Years 1,2,3 and 4. Year 1 were told Islamic stories, Year 2 had a Muslim Prayer workshop, Year 3 had a workshop about belonging to a mosque and finally, Year 4 explored Islamic artefacts. The visit was excellent and supported the pupils with their understanding of this wonderful faith
Wednesday was World Languages Day and to celebrate this, the pupils spent some time looking at different languages spoken around the world. They also looked at different cultures and completed various activities. The pupils can now say hello in a multitude of languages!
ECO Team
On Wednesday I met with my ECO Team. This was a very fruitful meeting; the children were full of ideas and very engaged with our actions. The pupils will be writing to you shortly with some suggestions on how we can be more environmentally friendly in the home.
Year 3 & Year 4 Woodland adventure Finance Workshop
On Thursday and Friday, Year 3 and 4 had a finance workshop led by a representative from the HSBC bank. The children had to budget for a birthday party. They thoroughly enjoyed this and were able to apply their maths skills to a real life experience.
Year 1 Phonics Meeting
On Thursday, Mrs Nortcliffe held a phonics meeting after school to give parents and carers more insights into the Year 1 phonics screening tests held later this year. Thank you to everyone who came. If you require more information or anything clarifying, please do not hesitate to contact us.
