THOUGHTS FROM DR. VOELKL
Thank you for reading through this week's newsletter for a variety of important updates! In addition, to the many activities taking place this week, report cards for our second trimester will be share via email with all families at the conclusion of the school day tomorrow. As a reminder, report cards are ONE measure of an overall child's overall academic strengths and areas for growth. We encourage all families to talk through these documents with your child/children. Perfection is not the goal. We would not be doing our job as an institution if ALL of our students received perfect grades ALL the time. Our goal is to help each child develop in such a way that they are able to reach their own unique potential. I've linked a few infographs / charts below that explain the topic of fixed and growth mindset. This is a great approach when trying to talk and share with your kiddos. As always, PLEASE reach out to teachers with any questions you may have!
Wishing you continued blessings,
Dr. Voelkl

DONUTS WITH DAD
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO completed the google form to let us know they would be attending this event.
Please note: If you come between 7:15-7:30 please wait with your child in the Café until the bell rings at 7:30 so your child has supervision in the classrooms, the teachers are getting ready for the day and may or may not be in their rooms until 7:30. Please park on the bottom lot, street, or top lot and walk into the Café doors, we will unlock them for the morning. The tree lot will have most of our teacher parking so there may not be much room there. Thank you!

TOTUS TUUS!!
Totus Tuus is a program that is brand-new to St. Charles Borromeo this year and we are very excited about it! The mission of Totus Tuus is to bring young people into a relationship with Christ and His Church for lifelong discipleship. Emphasis is placed on dynamic sharing of the faith, Sacraments and a whole lot of joyful fun! College missionaries lead the program and have a profound impact on the youth that attend. It will be held at Borromeo June 5-10th. There is a day program for rising 1st-6th graders and an evening program for rising 7-13th graders. You can register your child(ren) and find out more info here: bit.ly/totustuusregistration. We are also in need of volunteers to assist with drop-off, pick-up, helping the missionaries, lunch, snack, etc. We will also need 2 host houses for our missionaries to stay at that week, as well as lunches and dinners for the missionaries. See the volunteer sign up genius for more info. You can sign up to volunteer here: bit.ly/totustuusvolunteers.

ALL THINGS NEW
We need your feedback for the All Things New Archdiocese strategic planning initiative! The Disciple Maker Index survey is now live: https://bit.ly/scbdisciplesurvey
Please take 20 minutes to fill out the survey by April 4! Paper copies are available in the church vestibule and will be at March parish events.
Data collected through the DMI will be key to the decisions made later. Therefore, it is important that as many people as possible complete the DMI.
Over the next two weeks, we will use our social media accounts to provide more information on the DMI, and the All Things New process.
In the meantime, if you want more information, or if you’d like to view Archbishop Rozanski’s video regarding All Things New, click here: https://allthingsnew.archstl.org/.
We also have a committee of parishioners who will usher our parish through this process. You can contact them at any time with questions or for more information:

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE - From Mrs. Kneale
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTNUED SUPPORT! TO DATE we have RAISED OVER $16,000!!!
SCB is participating in the Kids Heart Challenge to benefit the American Heart Association. The challenge runs from Feb. 21st thru Mar. 14th. Our school goal is to try and raise $5000 and has at least 18 kids complete Finn's mission. Your child should have come home with additional details and information last week. THANK YOU in advance for your support!SCHOOL BOARD OPENINGS
As a faith-based organization, we are mission-driven and mindful of our Catholic identity. Together, we strive to not only build community but further build the kingdom God. The purpose of the Board is to advise the Pastor and Principal in making policy for parish educational programs. Through this rich collaboration, we enhance the academic and overall experience that each child receives. We are still accepting applications for open positions on the School Board.
https://forms.gle/Xc1pNeco3acACErJ9
- Our School Board is an eleven-member board that advises the Pastor in determining the general policies and plans for the Parish full-time school. Additionally, the School Board assists the Pastor and Administration in formulating philosophy, objectives and long-range plans for the full-time school, interpreting and applying the policies of the Archdiocesan Board of Education, preparing the annual tuition rates and calendar.
- School Board member applications are open each year in the Spring and members serve 3-year terms. When looking at selecting new board members, our goal is to create a board that has members with diverse backgrounds. This allows the board to represent our school in the most effective way possible. The School Board meets on the every other month.

NURSE / COVID NOTES
We are continuing with Mask Optional protocols at this time...
- Please send in 2 masks in a zip lock back with your child's name on it to keep at school.
- Masks may be used at the discretion of the teacher (group activities that require students to be close to each other)
- If there are 3% of the student body out with COVID, masks will be mandatory for 5 days- parents will be notified.
THANK YOU again to all who have continued to support us on our COVID journey. While we would LOVE to say that those reaching out with symptoms of runny noses and mild sore throats are suffering from spring colds that is simply not the case. In our experience most of these symptoms have resulted in a positive COVID case. We want our kiddos in school and need staff to teach them. Continuing to monitor symptoms and returning when they have subsided will allow us to do so.
If you have received your COVID vaccine and want it to be documented in our FACTS system please send records to Nurse Quarando at nurse@borromeoschool.com. Please note this is not a requirement.
Please remember to bring water bottles to school, we are going through a lot of cups recently.

CAFE HELP
We are grateful for ALL OF OUR Cafe helpers. Our first session (11:00-12:00) is a slower pace with K-3 students and is mostly helping open items, pass out disposable silverware and condiments, help kiddos stand in line patiently for recess, and help wipe off tables. The second session (12:00-1:00) is a much faster pace yet has lots of kiddos 4-8 grade in and out of the Cafe in less than an hour. This is mostly monitoring/walking the room and helping wipe off tables. Thank you in advance and thank you to those who have helped in the past and continue to help!
