Girls on The Run Coaches Needed
Calling all coaches! We are in need of 2 more volunteer coaches for the spring season of Girls on the Run. You don't have to be a runner! You just need to be excited about leading girls in grades 3-5 through team and character-building activities, with some running and active games thrown in. The time commitment is 2x/week for 1.5 hours after school, along with some online and in-person training. GOTR does a FANTASTIC job of preparing you to be a coach. Contact Meghan Brown meg@trainermeg.com for more info.
Basketball Finals
Congratulations to our 6th and 8th grade boys' basketball teams for both securing the runner up spot in this year's season.
Prayers for the Gernes Family
I am saddened to inform our school community of the death of Mr. Tom Gernes. Tom was husband to Mrs. Peggy Gernes, our long-time (+40 years) Office Administrator, recently retired. Tom's Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11th, at Assumption Church. His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m.
If you would like to send a card to Peggy and her family, please drop it off at the school office and we will deliver those for you.
May he rest in Peace.

Saint Patrick's Day Dispensation
A general dispensation has been granted by Archbishop Hebda from the obligation of abstinence from meat on Friday, March 17, 2023, the Memorial of Saint Patrick.
Those taking advantage of the dispensation, however, are exhorted to undertake a work of charity, an exercise of piety, or an act of comparable penance on some other occasion during the Third Week of Lent.

Students have been busy getting ready for St. Paul's favorite holiday: St. Patrick's Day!
First Grade Trip to the Science Museum
What a day! So much learning.
Used Book Sale
I couldn't stay out of the LCCC Community with all of those books, puzzles and games! What a huge community event. Thanks to our organizers: Jenn Jeffries, Amber Fryxell, and Stef Goodlund for their long hours managing the sale. Thanks also to our many volunteers, including the strong group who helped pack up the sale.
It looks like the sale raised $3,461.15. Which is amazing, when you keep in mind the inexpensive prices!
We are looking for two new parents/guardians to help with the sale next year. Please send me an email if you are interested in learning more about this great event, j.schmidt@highlandcatholic.org
Inspiring Actions and Article
You will enjoy this well-written article by Mrs. Kelly Maynard, mother to Lincoln in 4th grade about her decision to donate a kidney to a stranger. It is a powerful read.
Third Grade Family Mass
Please join your Third grader at our Annual Third Grade Family Mass on Wednesday, March 8th, at 1 p.m. in the LCCC Chapel. It would be great if you could sneak out of work and join us.
Destination Imagination Team Competed on Saturday
It was great to see our Third/Fourth Grade Destination Imagination Team compete on Saturday morning at the Coon Rapids Middle School. Team members: Miller, Lewis, Lincoln, Hunter, Oscar and Oscar participated in the Engineering Challenge and created a working roller coaster! They demonstrated creativity and teamwork, two hallmarks of the D.I. program. Thanks to Coaches, Mr. Plumb and Mrs. Bernardy.
News Flash: The St. Paul Strikers received a first place rating and are invited to the Global competition later this Spring! Well done.
Student-Led Stations of the Cross
The students did an excellent job of leading the Stations of the Cross in the Main Church on Friday for the parishioners. Older students were paired with a younger student for each Station. The books provided were very interactive and students who were participating applied stickers to each Station.
What a beautiful prayer! Thanks to members of the School Ministry Council for organizing.
