This Week at Windsor...
#WEAREWINDSOR
October 1st, 2021
We had a busy week here at Windsor. It has been so great to walk around the building and hear all of the wonderful learning taking place. On Monday, we had some of our primary students that participated in Project Pen Pal. We have our running club, art club, guitar club, and chess club up and running and yesterday many of our students participated in Shield testing. We are still looking for parent volunteers to help with shield testing. If you are interested, please send me or Nikki Wiedner an email.
In order to reduce the number of close contacts during lunch, we are looking for volunteers to supervise students who finish eating early. Please email me or Nikki Wiedner if you are interested in volunteering from 12:10-1:10.
Also, parents, I need your help with this, we have had some students ask to bring some small toys or cards out to recess and I did approve this at first. However, at this point, we need to ask that students not bring in items for recess as they cause problems out on the playground. Students want to trade items with each other which creates problems between students. Last school year, we were in such a grey area with the way our recess was structured so we encouraged items to be brought in from home. This school year with recess back to normal, we ask that you do not allow your child to bring items from home. Thank you so much for your partnership.
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who have already been in the building, just a reminder that when you are in the building, the confidentiality of our students is a priority. We have many students with different needs in our building and we appreciate you protecting their privacy.
Wednesday is National Walk to School day. I hope to see lots of walkers!

Stella Station
It's officially October!! That means we can start celebrating everything to do with Halloween! The Stella home is filled with pumpkins right now, waiting patiently to be carved or painted to celebrate the season! If you are looking for something else to do with a pumpkin, why not make it into a Frankenpumpkin? Give your children a variety of supplies that they can glue or pin / nail into a pumpkin to make it a "spooky" decoration. You can find more details about this activity and some other fun Halloween STEM activities on the blog BabbleDabbleDo. I hope these help you create some Halloween fun in your home!
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Stella

Lunch Information
Please note that students who choose to pack a meal from home are invited to take a bag with milk that will also contain a fruit, vegetable, and grain at no charge. If your child has food allergies or food intolerances, please work with them to identify what they can consume from this bag, should they decide to pick it up.
All of these bagged items will be wrapped. If a student chooses not to consume all items, those may be placed on a table in the eating area so as to not be wasted.
As a reminder, lunch is free this school year for all District 25 students.

October-World Mental Health Month
Mealtime doesn't have to be draining. When families dine together, both the kids and the adults are more likely to eat fruits and vegetables. Family meals can also help defuse conflicts with kids, ease their stress and depression, improve their grades and boost parents' mental well-being, too. Click here to learn how mealtime can benefit both your mental and physical health.
