The Fowler Weekly
February 5-9, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Parents!
Schedules should also now be loaded into both Student and Parentvue as well. We will pass out new schedules in Morning Meeting classes on Monday as Morning Meeting teachers should remain the same for Semester 2. Students can get a sneak peak of their Quarter 3 schedule now in Student Vue..
We hope students reflect on their grades from Quarter 2 and set goals for success as they begin the second half of the school year.
One update for families as we move into the second half of the school year is that we have now dedicated our Cascade Hall restrooms as 6th grade only. We will share this information with students in Morning Meeting Monday and will also begin posting signs to remind 7th and 8th grade students, that they need to use the Pacific and Commons restrooms.
Have a great week,
Andy
HAPPENINGS
Students were recognized with Fowler Fist Bumps this week during grade level assemblies. Fist Bumps recognize our students for their awesomeness! Because so many of them are, and we want to make sure they know that we see their awesomeness. Congratulations to the Falcons listed below!
Semester 2/Quarter 3 begins tomorrow. Students will receive a copy of their new schedule in Morning Meeting. Students that might have a schedule change include:
6th graders who have the wheel as their elective.
Students who have had, or will have Health.
Students with semester electives.
Students that have made progress in an intervention class & now will have an elective.
This week we celebrate our School Counselors:
6th Grade: Brian Penny
7th Grade: Deanna Christianson
8th Grade: Cyndi Cummings
School counselors play a vital role in helping students face various challenges. School Counselors allow K-12 students to better understand their own strengths; work with parents to help them overcome obstacles in raising their children; and encourage educators to have their students set healthy, positive goals.
Counselors are licensed educators who address students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development needs by implementing and executing a counseling program aiming for student success, according to ASCA (American School Counselor Association).
Take a minute to share your appreciation for your student’s counselor this week. A simple “Thank You!” goes a long way. (Their names above link to their email.)
Last chance for students to purchase Valograms is this Wednesday, February 7, for $1. Valograms will be distributed to students on Valentines Day.
We have triple ASA Jamborees this week:
The first one is the first ASA Volleyball Jamboree right here at Fowler versus Twality Middle School on Wednesday, February 7. Families are welcome to come watch the Jamboree. Fowler students may attend if they are with their family. The Jamboree is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm and will run until approximately 5:00pm. Families may enter at the Gym entrance.
The second one is the first ASA Basketball Jamboree also right here at Fowler versus Hazelbrook Middle School on Thursday, February 8. Families are welcome to come watch the Jamboree. Fowler students may attend if they are with their family. The Jamboree is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm and will run until approximately 5:00pm. Families may enter at the Gym entrance.
The third is the second Wrestling Jamboree at Hazelbrook Middle School. Parents please watch for specific information coming via email directly from the wrestling program.
Student participants will NEED A RIDE HOME when each Jamboree is over.
Questions? Please reach out to Teresa Weitz, tweitz@ttsd.k12.or.us.
The district has introduced new website pages, which is very exciting, however, the pages that they turned on last Wednesday, January 31 are from August and therefore the websites are not as up to date as we would like. We will work quickly to update the information. In the meantime, if you are looking for something that you are unable to find, PLEASE feel free to reach out to the Main Office either via email, fowleroffice@ttsd.k12.or.us, or phone, (503)431-5000.

HELPFUL HINTS
As we begin Semester 2, here are a few helpful reminders:
IF YOUR STUDENT WANTS TO RIDE A BUS HOME WITH A FRIEND your student needs to bring a written note from their parent/guardian that includes:
The student name that they will be riding home with
The bus number they will be riding.
The note should be brought to the Main Office PRIOR to the end of the day for a stamp. (Example: Mickey Mouse has my permission to ride bus number 56 home with Donald Duck today, 9/15/23. Parent Signature.) Parents may also email permission to fowleroffice@ttsd.k12.or.us prior to 3:00pm and we will get the note signed and to your student.
Information regarding DELIVERIES for students: For a variety of reasons (including safety) we do NOT accept food deliveries from
DoorDash
Uber Eats
GrubHub
or other delivery services for students during the school day.
This also includes
Floral deliveries
Balloon deliveries for celebrations.
We DO accept deliveries from parents/guardians:
Homework
iPads
Lunches
Any other necessary items.
We will communicate with the student that the item is there in order for them to know it can be picked up in the Main Office.
IF YOUR STUDENT COMES HOME TROUBLED BY SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS AT SCHOOL, we want you to know that there are two reporting apps available to all students at all times.
If there is a situation where someone is in immediate danger, they can use the Safe Oregon reporting app. This app is connected to our staff/emergency services 24/7.
If there is a concern that needs to be reported but can wait until school hours to be addressed, students can use the Student Concern Report app on their iPad. These reports are monitored by our administrators.
