Good Evening Bishop Woods Families,

We ended last week with a great Community Meeting presented by our one and only, Ms. Sirico and with the support of some of our students. Student of the Month and Rising Star awards were given out to students who are following our STRIVE school expectations. Congratulations to all who received awards! Also during community meeting, Mr. Iannone and Ms. Harrison participated in a stacking challenge and Ms. Harrison came out on top. I am sure there will be an exciting rematch.

Congratulations to our grade 8 student Abigail Cadet, who won 2nd place in a District wide art contest titled "Scream Your Theme". Members from the District came to the school to congratulate her, and to give her a professional art kit.

On Wednesday Feb.1st we are hosting Report Card Conferences. They will be held from 1:35 - 3:00pm and again from 5:00-7:00pm. We are asking parents not to enter the building until 1:35 so we can safely dismiss our students. If you did not yet schedule a conference, there is still time to do so. During conferences there will be a bake sale, winter wear sale, and parent raffle for a $50 gift certificate for all parents who complete the district School Climate parent survey.

We are encouraging all families to send their students to school EVERY DAY (unless ill). Daily attendance is critical to the growth and well-being of our students. During the month of February, if students come to school everyday with no tardies, students will be able to attend a celebration event with snacks and games. We are also adding a monthly parent raffle for a $25 gift certificate for the parents of those students. The family who wins will be notified the day of the event.

Important Dates

1/30 - attendance assemblies

1/31 - parent conferences 1:35-3:00 and 5:00-7:00

2/1 - 8th grade students interested in Common Ground High School will visit the school 9:30-11:30

2/1 - Grade 3 students field trip to Common Ground 9:30-12:00

2/2 - Grade 4 students will be taking the National NAEP assessment

Bishop Woods has a school based health clinic operated by the Fair Haven Community Health Care. It is located in the nurses' suite on the first floor of our school. The clinic can provide back to school physicals as well as acute care to those students who are enrolled. While the clinic does not replace your primary care provider, it is a convenient way for both students and parents to access care without delay, leading to less missed time from work and school.
