St. Anne School Family Newsletter
April 21, 2021
Dear St. Anne Parents,
Our second graders will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time tomorrow. This is the second sacrament that the students will be receiving...baptism being the first sacrament. Their next sacrament to be received is First Communion which will take place on Saturday, May 22. I know you join all of us as we continue to pray and offer our congratulations to these young students.
I want to thank all of you who attended our first SAPTO meeting on Monday night. It was wonderful to see so many of you (albeit via Zoom) at this meeting. Hopefully, once our new year starts, we can all be together in person enjoying a delicious dinner and conversation with other parents before our SAPTO meeting begins. Please make a note on your calendars to join us for the final SAPTO meeting of this year which will take place on May 17 starting at 7:00. Fr. Dan will be installing our SAPTO officers for the coming year and our Graduate Parents will be recognized for their many years of service to our school.
A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
My dear friends,
I want to let you know that Bishop Walsh decided that it was time for him to move to assisted living at St. Anne Home on Lake Street. As you may have noticed, he hasn’t preached or been the main celebrant at mass for quite some time now and his recent car accident 3 weeks ago has left him feeling a little more delicate. He welcomes the help offered by the Little Sisters of the Poor.
He didn’t want me to let people know until after he left. He left today to begin a new chapter of life. He wanted me to let you know that he will really miss this place and all of you and to thank you for the hospitality you extended to him while he stayed here, his first home. After he gets settled, feels a little stronger, and as the Covid rules allow, we’ll invite him back for a lunch so we can do a proper celebration with him. He will remember us in prayer, so let’s remember him also.
Peace,
Fr dan

MONDAY, APRIL 26 IS A MINIMUM DAY
5K WALK-A-THON - FRIDAY, MAY 14TH
5K Walk-a-thon - Friday, May 14, 2021
Hooray, we have raised over $25,000! Thank you to all who have logged into PledgeStar to submit donations as well as enter contacts of family and friends for pledges. Reminder to let us know if your child will be participating in the Walk-a-thon in-person or remotely by April 23rd. You may inform your child’s teacher, so they know to expect a permission form for in-person participants.
We are still needing 5 crossing guards for grades 3 and 8. Please consider volunteering to assure the safety for these classes when crossing the street. You also get to wear a cool neon vest and use a stop sign to direct your designated class while crossing the street. Sign up through SignUp.com (link is at the bottom of St. Anne’s website).
As announced at Monday’s SAPTO meeting, we received 25 designs for this year’s t-shirt contest - thank you for your creativity. After careful review and deliberation, we congratulate t-shirt design winners James Ng from Kindergarten and Sarah Batt from the 8-1 class! Honorable mentions to Ian Sprouls (7th), Charlottie Yip & Crystal Wei (7th), and Tegan Bryne (6th). The winning designs are shown below.
5K Key Dates
April 23: Permission forms (found on the last page of the Walk-a-thon packet) due to teachers
May 14: Walk-a-thon day and deadline for match gifts (submit match requests ASAP to ensure your employer has time to process and send payment to St. Anne to receive a homework pass)
