A Note from the Principal
- Please mark your calendars to show that we will not have Aftercare on May 6th in order to hold a Faculty Appreciation event as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.
- Next week we will be having our second semester Virtus lesson of Protecting God's Children. Please see the information below.
Beginning on April 11th, our 4th-8th grade students will begin their spring MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing window. The following week, April 18th - 22nd, our 2nd through 3rd grade students will begin their spring MAP testing window. Please make sure your student(s) are here on time and have eaten breakfast so they are able to put their best effort forth.
Upon receiving our spring results, the Testing and Assessment Committee will continue reviewing data from both dates and begin assessing how to use this information to develop plans to best support the growth of our students.
We invite you to join us for a parent meeting on May 17th to provide information for families to understand your child’s test score, how to use these test results and how the test data will impact future instruction for your child(ren).
A summary of your child’s scores will be provided in the office on May 18th for parent pick up.
Protecting God's Children
Marquette will present the next lesson of our two-part sexual abuse prevention program, the Teaching Safety – Empowering God’s Children program, to our students the week of April 4th. The creators of the Protecting God’s Children® program developed the Teaching Safety – Empowering God’s Children program. This program is provided to us by the Diocese of Tulsa, and is a part of our ongoing effort to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and to protect all children from sexual abuse. The scheduled lesson is being offered to all students at Marquette. As a parent, you have the right to choose whether your student participates. We encourage you to read the attached “overview” and “lesson plan” so you’ll be aware of the nature of the Teaching Safety – Empowering God’s Children program. If you have questions about the program or the lesson, please contact your child’s teacher or myself. If you determine that you DO NOT want your child to participate, please complete the “opt-out” form attached to this email, and return it to your child’s teacher no later than Monday morning, April 4, 2022.
For more information on the Teaching Safety – Empowering God’s Children program, visit the VIRTUS Online™ website at www.virtus.org.
Please reach out to me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Jay Luetkemeyer

MHSA Trash Bag Fundraiser!
It is time for the Marquette and ECDC annual trash bag fundraiser!
With the success of last year’s fundraiser, I’m excited to share we will continue with online-only sales. This means all sales will be made through our dedicated website and that we will not be accepting any cash or checks. One difference this year is the cost of a roll of trash bags. It is not surprising with the global pandemic and many supply chain issues that the cost of manufacturing the trash bags increased. Therefore, we have raised our sale prices to keep up. The cost of a roll of trash bags is now $12. However, your trash bag sales goal and buyout costs remain the same.
Just like last year’s process, each student will be provided their own unique link to our Marquette Trash Bag Fundraiser website. Whenever someone uses this unique link to purchase trash bags, the student will receive credit for sales. You can also use this link to make donations or pay for your individual student buyout or your family buyout.
Fundraiser Dates
The fundraiser started this week and ends on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 8:00 p.m.
Pickup Dates
Our pickup this year will be just like it was last year using the porte-cochere with pre-scheduled pickup times. The exact dates will be confirmed in a future email with a link to sign up for your pickup time. Please note, although anyone can use your unique student link to purchase trash bags, the student who sells the trash bags will be responsible for delivering them to their individual purchasers.
How to Lookup Unique Student Links
If for any reason you need to look up a student's unique link, you can do so by using this link: https://marquettetrashbagfundraiser.org/student-lookup/
Finally, here are some additional details that haven't changed from last year:
- Our benchmark is for each student to sell 25 rolls, or for each family with more than one student to sell 40 rolls.
- In the alternative, you may choose to support our spring fundraiser by donating (buy-out) $100 per child or $175 per family.
- The schoolwide goal is to raise $30,000 for the Marquette Home School Association.

Summer is almost here and registration for Vacation Bible School and Totus Tuus is now open!
Vacation Bible School
Our VBS theme this year is the "Fruits of the Spirit." We will explore, through games, crafts and music, how God gives us the fruits of the Spirit to help us show others what His love looks like.
- Ages 3 to entering Kindergarten
- 9 a.m. to noon each day (lunch not provided)
Totus Tuus
Similar to VBS, Totus Tuus provides religious education in a fun and engaging environment. The program's name is Latin for "Totally Yours" and was St. John Paul II's motto, taken from St. Louis de Montfort's "True Devotion to Mary." The program has a Marian focus, with a different theme every year that ties back into Marian devotions.
- Grades 1-5 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, lunch not provided)
- Children will learn how to pray, about the importance of prayer, explore the sacraments and discover how to participate more fully in Mass.
- Grades 6-8 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, lunch not provided)
- Designed for middle schoolers, students will strengthen their faith by focusing on prayer and meditation, small-group discussions, adoration, Mass and reconciliation.
- High School Students (7 to 9 p.m.)
- Designed for high schoolers, students will strengthen their faith by focusing on prayer and meditation, small-group discussions, adoration, Mass and reconciliation.
