HMC-1 Return to Learn Update
At the Hickman Mills C-1 School District, we each play an important role in our shared goal of reopening our schools. With the health and safety of students and staff as a top priority, HMC-1 remains in the Red Health Status with all students learning virtually. The district leadership team will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases each week and will review the guidance of local and state health officials. We will update the HMC-1 community each week and provide at least two weeks’ notice before moving into the next health status. Click here to read the full, updated information on the district's Return to Learn Plan.

October is National Principals Month
Through visionary leadership and tireless pursuit of success for each student, principals guide and support their schools in ways large and small every day. As we faced new challenges presented by COVID-19, our principals came through when it mattered most.
It is our honor to recognize the hard-working, dedicated principals of HMC-1. Visit this page to meet all HMC-1 Principals and view videos submitted by them.

Kayshia is in the 99th percentile in both reading and math for the I-Ready Testing and wants to be a vet when she grows up. Yasmeen is in the 97th percentile in reading for the I-Ready Testing and wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
Ruskin Senior Receives Certified Nursing Assistant Certification!
Congratulations to Ruskin High School Senior, Stephany O., on passing her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Exam!
For the past year, Stephany was part of the Ruskin High School Prep-KC Health Academy. The Health Academy has been at Ruskin for seven years, and the CNA program has been at Ruskin for four years. As part of the program, Stephany attended Penn Valley Health Sciences Institute twice a week, and spent a month doing her clinical rotations at a local nursing home, with the end goal of receiving her CNA.
"My CNA experience was quite unusual. I loved it," said Stephany. "Through the process you could see who was really invested in the program. I am happy that I pushed through the program until the very end, and now I'm certified!"
This program is no cost to the students except for their personal materials, such as scrubs, shoes and a watch. All HMC-1 student participants receive a scholarship that covers the cost of tuition, books, blood pressure cuff, gait belt and their background checks.
