Prayer Reflection
As you gather as a family, consider together these questions: Would it be possible to inventory our possessions? Are there things in our house that we no longer need or use? What might we do with these things? Read together today's Gospel, Mark 10:17-30. Talk about the warning about material possessions that Jesus gives in this Gospel. How does this make you feel? Choose an action that helps your family show its commitment to the poor. Conclude by praying together the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Happy Festival Time
Festival Time! What a wonderful time for our parish community. The children are excited about the festival and they have been preparing for it by creating art work for the hall. The theme this year is "Building Community". Our sixth grade parents and eighth grade parents are sponsoring game booths, and the proceeds will be going towards the Outdoor Education Program and the Washington DC trip. The festival bar proceeds will be going directly to our sports program for sporting equipment and uniforms. So please support these booths as they will have direct impact for the children.
High School Information Night: On Tuesday night we had the High School Information Night at the school. It was great to see so many students and families take advantage of this night to learn a little more about high school options. Thanks to my own staff for giving up their time to be here for the evening.
Athletic Board Family Picnic: The annual Athletic Board Family Picnic was held last Sunday at Alta Loma field, and I wish to express my gratitude to the 5th grade parents who organized the event. It was a beautiful sunny day, and many people took advantage of the good weather to come and watch baseball games and to indulge in the wonderful food prepared by the 5th grade parents.
Books 4 Hope Donation Drive: The school is supporting St. Vincent De Paul in their book drive appeal. We will be asking all families to look at home for gently used books that you do not need anymore and to donate them to the book fair. There will be a pizza lunch for the grade that brings in the most books. Please see the flyer attached to this newsletter. Parents and students may bring in books starting on Tuesday, October 13th and continuing through Friday, October 23rd.
Confirmation: Confirmation will be celebrated in our Parish at 10am on Saturday, October 24th. We wish all students being confirmed every blessing during this time. Our 8th graders will be on Confirmation retreat tomorrow at Orange Park in preparation for their special day.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent/Teacher conferences will be held from November 4th to November 6th. This year there will be a slight change to the signing up for conferences. Parents with two or more children will receive the link on TUESDAY OCTOBER 13th at 9am to register your conferences. All other families will receive the link on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 14th at 12 noon.
Friday Dismissal: Tomorrow, Friday is a minimum day ending at 12.20pm. Please refer to Tuesday's email for details regarding the staggered pick up beginning at 12 noon.
I look forward to seeing you all at the festival over the weekend.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
