Welcome to Spring Break!
We are excited to say hello to Spring Break this week! After working through the coldest months of the year with some of the toughest assignments, our staff and students are ready for a week of rest and relaxation. We are so proud of what our students accomplished throughout third quarter, and now everyone deserves a happy, safe, and healthy spring break!
Take a glance below for some of the things our students are excited about for their Spring Break vacations.
"I'm playing every day outside!"
"I'm going to read a lot and play with my friends."
"I get to hang out with my family!"
"I'm going to sleep all day!"
"I'm going to hang out with my friends the whole time!"
Welcome, St. Louis First Responders!
Thank you to Mrs. Ayeni for arranging a visit from our St. Louis Police Department and Fire Department! Students were able to interact with our first responders, learn about safety in our community, and learn about the life of a police officer and firefighter. Thank you for your visit!
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
Last week, our students celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss, renowned children's author and illustrator of such famous creations as "Oh the Places You'll Go!," "The Lorax," and Dr. Rogers' personal favorite, "The Sneetches." Take a look through the photos below of Ms. Willard's class celebration with their "Cat in the Hat" inspired artwork. Students celebrated his incredible literary legacy and enjoyed a silly moment in the process!
Congratulations, Chess Club!
The St. Louis Chess Club partners with Patrick Henry to provide daily chess class for our upper elementary students. Last week, our very own Patrick Henry Chess Club was invited to participate in the St. Louis Public Schools District Tournament. Our students worked hard to prepare for the event, practicing with their spare time and sparring against one another in friendly competition. They left for their tournament ready and excited. We are so proud of the hard work that our students have put into learning this ancient and challenging game, and we know they will continue to pursue the art of chess long after they graduate from Patrick Henry. Thank you to the St. Louis Chess Club for their sponsorship of this class, our club, and the tournament!
Ned Assembly
Thank you to Mrs. Ayeni for arranging the Ned Assembly this week! Students were able to enjoy a fun show with yo-yos, magic, and character education. A few lucky students even got to take yo-yo's home with them. Thank you to staff for putting this opportunity in front of our students to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon and learn more about character education!
Seen around the building
Take a look at the pictures below to see a sampling of some of the fun we've been having over the last two weeks at Patrick Henry. We wish everyone a safe and happy Spring Break, and we are excited to see you after the break!
