Ms. Leslie celebrating Chinese New Year!
Letter from the Principal
Steggie Families-
We had a great week this week. Additionally, students had a little break on Wednesday to avoid the cold! Our attendance rates continue to improve and we want to stress that it is so important for each child to be at school each day. If you are struggling to get your child to school please reach out. We love seeing the students smiling faces each morning! Thanks for all of your support, MCE is a great place to be!

The Power of Stories - Books coming home next week!
Hello Steggie Families! We're excited to announce the Power of Stories program at McElwain! Over the last three weeks, classrooms have shared traditional stories written in English, Spanish, Dari, and Pashto. Students will be bringing home their own copy of these stories on or by February 8th. K-2nd grade students have been reading The Clever Boy and the Terrible, Dangerous Animal. 3rd-5th graders have been reading The Magic Horse.
We invite you to read these stories as a family when the books are sent home with your students. We are a community of readers at MCE, and we are so excited these books are provided in all of our home languages.
This opportunity was provided by Hoopoe Books. They also have created family resource activities related to each story. Those activities can be found here: https://hoopoebooks.com/parent-school-connection/
If you are able, please send photos or Dojo messages of your at-home Power of Stories activities. We would love to see them! You can also email videos to sara.m.snider@adams12.org.
Thanks for showing our students the Power of Stories at school and at home!
