Principal's Message

As we start the school year teachers focus on routines, procedures, behavior expectations, building relationships, and working to build a classroom environment that suits the needs of all of our students. I would like to take a moment to recognize the fabulous work of our teachers as we embark on a great journey together. If you have a moment please send your child's teacher a thank you to remind them of someway they positively impacted you or your child at school. I would like to thank all of our families for ensuring students arrive on time to school and our ready to learn!

Field Day updates and Volunteers Needed
At the end of the year we celebrate together during our field day event. Due to some abnormal rain storms last June we had to postpone our field day. On Friday Sept 1st we will hold a field day where students will have a 45 minute window to play and experience some fun together with their grade levels. Students will engage in a rotation of games including: Bucket Toss, Ping Pong Carry, Limbo, and Beach Ball. If you plan on attending you may enter the park from the field gate. Students leaving campus must be checked out in the office.
We are looking for 4 volunteers, per time slot/grade, to help run each game station. If the time slot that you are looking for is full, please feel free to come help and/or watch your kiddos anyway! This sign up is to make sure we have the minimum amount of volunteers ready to go.
**You do not need to be an approved volunteer to help on the field at this event.
Please sign up to help support the field day activities if you can spare some time in your schedule.
AHES Spirit Wear - Every Friday!
Get geared up for what will most certainly be a wonderful year! Our Spirit Wear store will be open on August 29th. This is a limited opportunity to purchase scholl attire. We will be celebrating our school spirit weekly on Fridays.
Use the Store Link to make your purchasers.
School Site Council Representatives
Anaheim Hills Elementary School is in the process of electing members to the School Site Council (SCC) for the 2022-2023 school year. The SSC is required for schools receiving categorical funds. These funds are used to supplement the regular school program. The purpose of the SSC is to develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA); which is a comprehensive plan designed to improve the effectiveness of the school program. In order to accomplish this task, the SSC meets a minimum times a year to assess student needs, develop and approve the SPSA, including categorical budgets, and monitor its implementation.
Members of the SSC include the principal, classroom teachers, other staff members, and parents. Members of the SSC are elected by their peers. Therefore, parents are elected by parents. Two parents are needed this year. One parent must be a parent of an English Language Learner. A member serves for two years. If you are interested in being a member of the SSC, please fill out the nomination form below. After all nominations are in, an electronic ballot will be sent via email for all parents to be able to vote. The three parents with the highest number of votes will serve on the SSC.
We currently have two parent positions open. Complete this nomination form no later than Wednesday, August 23, 2023, if you would like to serve on this very important committee. If you have any questions, please call the school.
Data Confirmation and Classroom Assignments
Please take a moment to log in to the AERIES parent portal to complete the data confirmation. Data Confirmation is our electronic emergency card and data collection for both new and returning students. It allows parents to update: contacts, medical conditions, view and agree to school policies/documents, and update authorization information. Please verify the information and update as needed do we have the most current data on hand.

Please make sure your email is up to date and that you are checking your junk mail folders for information from our teachers and school.
Please note that we will NOT make any placement changes during the first 10 days of school. I can assure you our teachers made the best possible placement option for you child based on their years of experience and collaborative nature with one another. If for some reason you need to request a change, please do so in writing by emailing kcosca@orangeusd.org. If you have emailed me I may not have responded yet. I will be reaching out to gather more information. Please be patient. Class adjustments are based on many factors beyond a parent request.
Book Drive
Please help support our local youth community members by donating slightly used preschool age books on Back to School night. They will be set up in the kinder yard so drop off your books on the way in.
