The students are excited for the Bengals to bring home another win this weekend! We are finishing up the majority of our MAP makeups this week. If your child still has a MAP test to makeup, please don’t worry! We can test until February 4th. Kindergarten registration is open. If you know of anyone who is eligible to enroll in kindergarten at Sycamore Community Schools for the 2022-23 school year, encourage them to register at sycamoreschools.org. Full day spots fill up quickly.
Best,
Amy

Dear Montgomery Families,
Here are our updates for the week:
January Gerenal PTO Meeting Update:
Our January General PTO Meeting on Wednesday, January 12 was a great success featuring two very informative presentations. Dr Debelak spoke about PBIS and how it's managed at Montgomery Elementary School. Additionally, Karen Celesti and Beth Hill spoke about Counseling Services and Mental Health and how families can access these services.
A complete recording of the General PTO Meeting and copies of the supporting documents (Slide shows) can be found here.
Beth Hill can be reached at Hille@sycamoreschools.org
Boosterthon:
We are excited to kick off our Boosterthon program on Thursday, February 10th. Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. Navigating the pandemic has exposed new and pressing challenges in addition to the conventional ways we typically support the school, which means we need your support more than ever.
We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. However, you can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at mybooster.com. Sharing IS supporting!
Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our school's current guidelines. We'll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off.
Key dates to remember:
• REGISTRATION/DONATION OPENS - 1/20
Register on MYBOOSTER.COM
• Fundraiser Kick Off - 2/10
• Event Day - 2/18
SAVE THE DATE! You’re Invited!
We are grateful for you all! Thank you for your support this year. We all need it!
Yearbook:
We're excited to be working on our current yearbook and actively looking for photo participation from our families! Families who wish to submit photos for the yearbook can do so by emailing them to: mtptoyearbook@sycamoreschools.org
Please include descriptive text such as "first day of school, halloween, pajama day, snow day, winter break, etc." in order to help us organize the photographs both chronologically and by event. The more descriptive detail, the better.
Yearbooks can be ordered through Lifetouch by clicking here. The Yearbook ID is 14518622 and should auto populate. Price is $20 per unit. Orders will be accepted through the end of March.
Warm regards,
Kristofer Johnston
Montgomery PTO President
MTPTO@sycamoreschools.orgWHAT:
The Montgomery Elementary PTO is excited to announce the Montgomery Theatre will return for our 1st and 2nd graders. Theatre is a great way for kids to improve communication skills and gain confidence, while enjoying a teambuilding school activity with their peers.
WHO:
Students in Grades 1 & 2 are invited to audition. Everyone who auditions will get a part.
**We are limiting participation to the first 32 kids who sign up.
WHEN:
Auditions will be held at Montgomery Elementary on Wednesday, January 26th. Two evening performances will be held on Friday, April 8th at Montgomery Elementary. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays after school beginning Wednesday, February 2nd.
HOW TO AUDITION:
Sign up for an audition slot by visiting performingartsinc.net/Montgomery/. Click on Sign up for an Audition in the top left corner. This will take you to Sign Up Genius. More information about the program can be found here as well.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
A short segment (up to 30 seconds in length) of any song must be sung without accompaniment. You will also be asked to read a short monologue from the script, which can be found at performingartsinc.net/Montgomery/. Click on Monologues. This doesn’t need to be memorized. We will provide a copy to the child when they come into their audition.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR:
We will have several COVID related changes in place this year. Please review at performingartsinc.net/Montgomery/.**If a child is unvaccinated and exposed to COVID while participating, the child will be quarantined as this will be considered an out-of-school exposure.
Adapt for Life Parent Information Night
Through grant funding, Sycamore has partnered with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to launch a mental wellness program in our schools called Adapt for Life. To provide more information about the Adapt for Life program, the district is offering a Virtual Parent Information Night on February 8, 2022, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
We are asking parents to register in advance and indicate the grade level of their child in order to better customize the information session to the audience. Please also submit questions or topics you would like our speakers to cover during the session. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants. Click here to register.
For more information about the program, tools for students and families, please visit the Adapt for Life website at https://www.adaptforlife.org. Questions? Please reach out to Lisa Zelvy, Pupil Services Supervisor, at zelvyl@sycamoreschools.org.
