The school office remains on summer hours until the week school starts. Hours are 9am-1pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. While we welcome your emails and phone calls, please be aware that the next few weeks are a busy time for faculty and staff as we prepare to welcome your students back. Regular 7:30am-3:30pm office hours will resume beginning Monday, August 7th.

August 8th from 3pm-5:30pm is Meet the Teacher. Classroom teachers will send emails to their school families by August 5th introducing themselves and inviting you to stop by on the 8th. This is a come-and-go event that allows families to stop by, greet their new teacher, and let students briefly become acquainted with their classroom. Please try to keep your visit to about 15 minutes or less so all families get a chance to visit with their child’s teacher. You will have other opportunities throughout the school year to visit with teachers.

Stop by the gym to find out about some of our school organizations. PTO will also be on site to accept PTO registration, dues, etc. Nap mats and spirit merchandise will also be for sale. Cash, Check, or Venmo accepted for PTO items.

Our first day of school this year will be Thursday, August 10th. School will begin at 8am (drop off begins at 7:40am). We will dismiss Pre-K and Kindergarten students a little earlier on the first day, then proceed with regular dismissal times for 1st-8th.

*If you have a middle school student to pick up, enter the pick up line NO EARLIER THAN 3:10pm on Mon., Wed., Thurs., and Fri. Do NOT block Greystone Ave.

Reminder that the $125 school supply fee will be applied in FACTS on August 15th. The majority of your child’s school supplies have already been purchased and will be waiting for your student in their classroom. There are just a few items you are responsible for supplying. Please see the linked 23-24 School Supply List for items that families will need to provide.

Do you have everything you need for uniforms? View the overview of our uniform policy and check the handbook for more details. All students (K-8) will need regular and dress uniforms. Remember, the girls polo dress is Kinder- 5th grade ONLY and can only be purchased through FlynnO’Hara. The girls’ solid skorts can also only be purchased through FlynnO’Hara. Per our handbook, our school logo/school name is not allowed to be utilized or printed on anything that has not been approved by the principal.

Also, please label your children’s uniforms, jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes, and water bottles!

Don’t forget to Order your uniforms through Flynn O’Hara! Our uniform company gives 5% back to CSSE!

If your child will be ordering lunch or drinks from the cafeteria, you will need to add money to their lunch account in FACTS. https://steugeneschool.org/cafeteria-payments. We will have the August menu up on the school website soon.

ALL ARCHDIOCESAN/PARISH/SCHOOL EMPLOYEES & ADULT VOLUNTEERS who have contact with minors or vulnerable adults must complete the online Safe & Sacred Training including a background check. Until all steps have been completed in the online training portal, employees and volunteers may not serve at the parish/school or organization. Safe Environment must be renewed EVERY YEAR. If you have used the online training portal in the past, you should be able to login and verify your status. Please contact CSSE’s Safe Environment Facilitator, Jennifer Goodrich - safeenvironment@steugenes.org, to access the Safe & Sacred Training Portal.

Reminder to early childhood parents to work on these things with their student before school begins:

• Must be independent in using the restroom

• Self dressing, independently carry bag and water bottle

• Practice with lunch box items - opening their lunches with much independence

Save the date(s)! Parent nights for all parents/guardians are the second week of school. It is REQUIRED that at least one parent/guardian from each family attend. This is an adult only event, so please make childcare arrangements in advance.

Please arrive at the school gym by 6pm for a presentation from Mrs. Goldsworthy. Afterward, you will be dismissed to your student(s) classrooms to meet with their child’s teachers in a group setting to discuss expectations and curriculum for the school year. If you have more than one student classroom to visit that evening, we suggest parents/guardians split up to cover multiple classrooms. If this is not possible, please contact your student’s teacher to make alternate arrangements.

Registration for fall volleyball is now open at https://forms.gle/d9jbNVx7y5eEZgsH7. The deadline to register is Friday, August 11, 2023. The season typically starts the first weekend of September and runs through the end of October. Registration fee is $75.00 per player.

Fall volleyball is open to boys and girls in grades 4th through 8th. Each grade can form teams of either all girls or all boys. If there are not enough players in a given grade, we can combine with another school to form a team. Our volleyball coordinator is trying to determine if we will have enough boy players to form any boy CSSE teams this season. Please email Greg Metz at volleyball@steugeneschool.org is you have a boy who is thinking about playing.

Save the date for the Eagle Run! PTO is gearing up for the Eagle Run on Saturday morning, Sept. 9th! This fun event is one of the biggest fundraisers for our PTO, and proceeds go right back into our school! If you are interested in helping sponsor the Eagle Run, contact eaglerun@steugeneschool.org. More details will go out soon.

PTO will be on site at Meet the Teacher to accept PTO dues, sell spirit merchandise, etc.

Please pray for the Herber family. Mrs. Herber safely delivered the triplets, Charlie, Patrick, and McGuire earlier this month. They are being released home from the NICU one by one. Daddy David and big siblings, Nora and Anderson, are over the moon!

Please pray for Phuong Truong, Mrs. Hattaway's aunt, that she will be healed of cancer.
