Principal's Message
Congratulations to the more than 400 students who qualified for Honor Roll (GPAs 3.50-3.99) and Principal's Honor Roll (GPA 4.0) on their P2 progress reports. Certificates were distributed to students on Friday during their 6th period classes. Thank you Pershing Families for all the work you do day in and day out helping your children be academically successful, we couldn't do it without you - you have been great partners. Let's keep this momentum going and finish the semester strong when we return from Winter Break.
Speaking of Winter Break - a friendly reminder this is the final week of school before the Winter Break begins. The campus will be closed Dec 19th - Jan 2nd. School resumes for students on Tuesday, Jan 3rd. want to wish all our families Happy Holidays and I hope everyone finds time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with their loved ones.
Important Announcements for the Week of December 12th
SPECIAL SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
Don't forget that our modified schedule day is on Friday, Dec 16th this week. That means school gets out at 2:50 PM on Wednesday, not 1:45 PM. Student will be released at 1:45 PM on Friday, Dec 16th. We apologize if there has been any confusion.
WINTER CONCERT ON TUESDAY, DEC 13TH @6:00 PM
Ms. Tamez's music studentswill be hosting a Winter Concert for families on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in our auditorium.
STUDENT PASSWORD RESET IS COMING
We want all families and students to be aware that IT will be resetting all student passwords shortly after the winter break. As indicated in the December 1, 2022 Superintendent email communication ‘San Diego Unified Incident’, IT will be resetting passwords as a precaution for all students. IT will be performing the student password reset shortly AFTER winter break, being mindful of schedules such as end-of-semester activities, holidays, etc. Another communication with a detailed schedule will be provided next week along with other related guidance and PowerSchool report job-aids.
LAST CHANCE TO PURCHASE YOUR YEARBOOK BEFORE THE PRICE INCREASES
This is the last week that you can purchase your yearbook at the discounted price. After the break the price will increase. If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook please scroll down to the yearbook sales section below.
CAMPUS CLOSED FOR WINTER BREAK DEC 19-JAN 2
The campus will be closed for Winter Break from Monday, December 19th until Monday, January 2nd. Students return to campus on Tuesday, January 3rd
CLEARING ATTENDANCE
We are requesting that if you have to pull your child out of school early for a medical or dental appointment that you provide written documentation (such as a doctor's note) in order to clear the absence upon the student's return. Without the written documentation the absence will remain unexcused.
PHOTO ID REQUIRED FOR STUDENT PICK UP
A friendly reminder that students can only be released to people listed on the emergency contact list in PowerSchool and the person must have photo ID to verify their identity when picking up students. Student safety is a top priority and we take that responsibility seriously at Pershing. Thank you in advance for your support.

Winter Middle School Sports Registration is Open
Athletic teams are available to all SDUSD students grades 6-8, free of charge.
Winter season: soccer and volleyball for boys and girls teams.
Sign-ups are currently open and will close on December 5th
SPANISH TUTORING AVAILABLE
Does your child need help with Spanish? Mr. Barry is offering tutoring support on Tuesdays in Rm. 104 afterschool.
PRESENTATION FROM HENRY HIGH FOR 8TH GRADE PERSHING SLIM PARENT
A big thank you to Henry High School and their couseling team for taking the time to meet with our 8th grade SLIM families about the Spanish Dual Language pathway and what it will look like for students when they move on to high school.
