Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
Students took part in a workshop on make up and prosthetics for stage and screen looking at how to create some of the effects used in TV, cinema and stage productions and a workshop on discrimination and legal careers. It gave the group an insight into the opportunities available to them.

MFL:
Mrs Gonzalez-Villamil Lean has nominated her Year 11 group for their resilience in preparing their first ever Speaking assessment.
Maths:
Mr Lee has nominated Year 10 students Kia, Julia and Josh for their excellent problem solving in Maths this week. Also nominated are 11B3 for their hard work this week to ‘Close the Gap’ from the last mock.
Mrs Wynn has nominated Year 7 for their excellent work in the double lessons, their behaviour and focus during tasks have been excellent. Also nominated are 10A3 for another excellent set of results for their latest find the gap.
Miss Kaur has nominated Year 9 students Maya, Ava, Weronika, Julia S, Chloe, Julia P and Lexi for a brilliant effort in the Maths countdown game.
Humanities:
Mrs Brook has nominated Year 7 student Mirren who wrote a fantastic diary entry about a pilgrimage in R.E this week.
Miss Buffini has nominated Year 7 History who have been studying the Black Death in History. We have been looking at the symptoms and the cures and despite there being some gory details which Miss Buffini thinks secretly the Year 7’s have enjoyed, they have all worked really hard and shown resilience.
Mr Hallas would like to nominate 9TE for their wonderful work ethic this week. Despite being the last lesson of the day their attitude to learning was wonderful. A special mention to Maya A and Ava G for completing the stretch and challenge activity in so much detail.
Mr Harris has nominated Daisy in 7TA. Her answers in class have been excellent and she is shining example of her class.

Mrs Morgan has nominated Year 9 for their fantastic work this week.

Year 7:
This week 7TE impressed with their brilliant attitude towards notating a group ostinato. A special mention to Christopher R 7TE who had accurately remembered some key music terminology from our last unit (which was over 2 months ago) – well done.
Year 8:
This week Year 8 have begun learning to play Djembe drums. Miss Patrick was so pleased with 8CO who learnt the core rhythms so quickly that they also had time to add a call and response and whole class canon to our piece – excellent work! A special mention to Filip in 8CO who demonstrated great technique.
Year 9:
Year 9’s had an introduction to minimalism this week and even took part in some performance activities. Miss Patrick was very impressed with all classes who really got involved this! A special mention to 9TE who were successfully able to keep their own part in a whole class performance which involved 2 very very similar rhythms which became gradually more out of sync – brilliant work!
Science:
Scientists of the Week are:
Year 7 student Lottie for amazing revision work on sound.
Year 8 student Nikola for excellent work on the Carbon Cycle.
Year 9 student Olivia C who has completed some great work on Wave calculations.
Year 10 student Dylan C for superb work during the Maths in Chemistry topic.
Year 11 student Denisa for her amazing work and coming to find help when needed.
Computer Science:
Mr Reilly has nominated his Year 9 group who have been creating a magazine cover for a travel magazine. Arina in 9TA created an excellent piece of work and met all aspects of the client brief.
English:
Mrs Hallybone has nominated 8B1 English for their consistently fantastic contributions, energy and creativity. They recently engaged in a brilliant debate about whether Caliban (in The Tempest) is now embracing his own oppression. Some excellent, higher-level, thinking which was guided by an understanding of Colonialism. Well done, keep up the fantastic work!
Mrs Rice has nominated Year 8 students Mauricio, Alicja, Olwia and Kai for excellent contribution to your their lessons and Year 10 students Will, Willow and Sonny for excellent work on power and conflict poems. Also nominated are Year 8 students Beatrice, Ann Maria, Luba, Miller and Kamran for excellent green pen improvement paragraphs and Addison and Georgia for consistently wonderful and detailed classwork, well done.
PE:
Mr Rogers has nominated Year 10 students Harley H, Josh S and Theo for their exceptional effort in PE. Also nominated are Matty M, Johan and Trafford for great effort at Year 8 and 9 Basketball club and Year 7 students Samuel and Kristoff for their effort at Year 7 Basketball club.
