CHARTER SCHOOL LOTTERY CLOSES FRIDAY, FEB. 10
The PGCPS lottery for specialty programs and charter schools is now open until February 10th. Siblings receive preference BUT must still apply to the lottery.
Siblings already at CMIT North Elementary do not need to apply. They will automatically move to CMIT North Middle School after they complete 5th grade.
CMIT Tardy Policy
There is a strong correlation between students attending class on time, academic achievement, and behavior concerns in middle school. The Tardy Policy is designed to provide an incentive for students to arrive to each class on time in order to earn a Casual Day. Casual Days are awarded on the first Friday of each month based on the prior month's Tardy Report; unless otherwise announced by the administration.
Students begin each month with no tardies.
*Students with a suspension are also ineligible to participate in an upcoming Casual Day.

The day of love and care is fast approaching! Students and staff are invited to dress in RED or PINK on February 14, 2023 for Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Candy Grams
NJHS will be making and giving out candy grams during this Valentine's Day season.
Students may purchase a candy gram (a goodie bag) for their friends for $1.00.
If they would like to add a special note it will be $2.00.
Parents and Guardians! We would like for you to get in on the fun and love as well. If you would like to buy a candy gram with a special note for your scholar or other students please fill in the Google Form attached to this announcement.
All candy gram orders need to be purchased by February 10. The form will close at midnight. This will give NJHS members time to make the candy grams and have them ready to pass out on Valentine's Day. Cash only will be accepted for this purchase.
Students may bring the money to room 119 (near the cafeteria and across from the blended learning room). Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Upshaw at jasmine.smiley@pgcps.org

Don't Be Amused CMIT News!
CMIT now has our own AV Room and our AV club has been working so far this year to create a broadcast, learn how to use the equipment, and practice their journalism skills.
Full STEAM Ahead!
This week in Ms. Knox's art room/makers lab: we had the kilns hooked up and the material to start using the GlowForge laser cutter. For our first design, eighth graders worked with me to solve a problem in our art room. Our smart pencils and 24 USB outfitted charging dock were a hot mess. I worked with a handful of students thinking about ergonomics to design a charging dock that will streamline the look and function of our smart pencil charger. First, we made a mock-up design with cardboard and then created a plan in the program Inkscape. The final product is a huge improvement!
