Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
It is wet and windy out there! Feels like we skipped fall and jumped right into winter the past few days. STHS had a wonderful Harvest Fest last Friday night. Great turnout, positive student energy, and lots of fun! Our next school dance is in December. So if you missed the dance last Friday, there will be another coming up right around the corner!
Student/Parent/Teacher conferences are also right around the corner! The dates and times have been adjusted slightly from the district calendar. In the past, Wednesday morning conferences have had consistently low turnout. This year all 3 high schools are trying something different: conferences will be the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, November 22nd. We are returning to an in-person, arena style format. All teachers will be available in the Commons. See more information, including the specific times, below. Conferences are a great time to connect with your student's teachers and get all of your questions answered. We will also have staff available if you need help getting access to CANVAS or ParentVue. We hope to see everyone there!
Although the rain has returned, our field trips are still going strong! Today some of Mr. Lurie's classes visited the Oregon Historical Society and Ms. Kruse's art students visited the Portland Art Museum. Always a great time when we can expand learning beyond the classroom and our building walls. Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our all-school field trip to Portland Center Stage on Thursday, December 1st. We have tickets for the entire school to see It's A Wonderful Life.
Take care and enjoy the weekend,
Ryan Blaszak

Future Plans After High School: I don’t really know. I’m planning on looking into things that involve engineering and art at the same time. Mostly I’m looking forward to drawing, sculpting, ceramics even. Possibly music design.
Grade: 9
Interests: I draw a lot. I like designing outfits, even if I draw them really poorly. I guess I also like to build things that I find in my room. I’m working on a puppet.
Favorite subject in school: Sculpture, of course. We just got done doing a really fun project about piñatas.
Favorite thing about STHS: I really only visited the school because I wanted to bother one of my friends, but then I found out it’s actually a really nice space. The reason I came here is because it’s small and I heard there’s a lot of fun activities.
Audrie Klawuhn
Future Plans After High School: To go to college to be a graphic designer.
Grade: 10
Interests: My interest outside of school is horses because I have two. I love them. I do 4-H with them and it’s really fun.
Favorite subject in school: I don’t know. I like all the subjects, honestly.
Favorite thing about STHS: It’s a small community and I don’t like crowds of people. That’s the good part.
Marissa Thompson
Future Plans After High School: Get a job, save up money, and after I have enough money saved up, get into a college because I don’t want to go in broke. I love writing, I love voice acting, and acting in itself, so I would want something in there, but if not, then anything that helps with animals.
Grade: 11
Interests: I have a lot of interest in drawing. I love writing, singing, and acting.
Favorite subject in school: English, especially with Mr. Ramsey (no offense to Ms. Weber), but Mr. Ramsey’s class… there’s always something going on.
Favorite thing about STHS: I really love how all the teachers know all the students and everybody just knows everybody. If there ever is a problem, there is always someone somebody could talk to.
Parent Conferences
We would like to invite you all to attend Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday November 22nd from:

- 4:30pm - 7:45pm
We are returning to an arena style of conferences. All teachers will be available in our Commons. Please feel free to drop in anytime. This is a great opportunity to meet your students teachers and pick up 12 week grades. Translation services are available.
See's Candy Fundraiser
On Monday we will kick off our See's Candy Fundraiser! Fundraising packets will be handed out in Advisory class. Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
To view school-approved flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website.
