Dear Bright Beginnings Families:

November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers month. The book selected by the Kansas Library Association is "My Heart Fills with Happiness" by Monique Gray Smith. You can listen to the author reading the book here. Your child will also have the opportunity to hear the book at school.

As the weather continues to cool down, we want to remind you that we go outside every day the weather permits. Please make sure your children dress for the weather. Also, please ensure the school has an extra set of clothes that are weather appropriate.

Conferences are this month. We are excited to tell you about all the wonderful things your child is learning. We look forward to seeing you!

In October you received a ballot to approve or disapprove the officers who are representing your classrooms on Policy Council for the 2023-2024 school year. Below are the Approved Policy Council Members.

Our Policy Council meeting took place on Oct. 5th, 2023. We discussed and voted on the following:

• Daycare Policies and Procedures
• Bright Beginning Self Assessment Questions
• Community Assessment Questions
• Fiscal Report

The next meeting will be November 2nd, 2023 at 11:30 am. in the Policy Council room (basement of building A). Our Family Advocates had a great time participating at the Victory Electric Pumpkin Painting Event on October 28.

What a joy to to continue to welcome your families into Bright Beginnings School Family! Thank for connecting your kiddos to our greetings in the morning outside in the parking lot and in the hallway. This continues to set the tone for the day!

Your child/ren have been learning how to do breathing strategies with big emotions. Look below to learn more about Sophie and Shubert, their preschool bug friends! I enjoy seeing your child grow and learn at Friends Time every week!

You can learn with your student as well. Every month, I will share tidbits of what we are learning through Conscious Discipline (Sophie and Shubert Books) as well as weekly what your child's teacher is teaching from Second Steps via Facebooks, Talking Points and here in your newsletter.

Our focus story is Sophie and and Shubert learn to be Helpful. Stop by anytime in November at Melyssa's to take the Make-it Take-it activity home if you missed the parent meeting.

Parents:

This is a reminder that the school needs a copy of all updated health items.

• Immunizations
• Physicals
• Dentals
• Labs

Also, if your child receives a referral for hearing or vision when notified of a concern, please follow up with a doctor as soon as possible. Our goal is to ensure your child is healthy and able to learn.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our children and staff, children who have any of the following conditions will be excluded from the classroom until the child feels better, the condition subsides, or we receive a note from the child's doctor stating that the child is no longer contagious. Conditions are not limited to this list.

• Difficulty breathing or untreated wheezing
• Severe congestion
• Diarrhea (more than once)
• Discharge from the eyes
• Untreated Lice
• Missing four or more days of school due to an illness. A doctor's note is needed.
• An unexplained rash
• An oral temperature over 100 degrees
• Vomiting
• 
  

Your child is not ready to return to school if he/she has:

• Had a fever or diarrhea or vomited in the last 24 hours. Your child should be fever-, diarrhea- and vomit-free for 24 hours.

Child Care is a full and exciting place for the kids. We are enjoying learning in the classroom with centers and music and movement, then also enjoying these beautiful fall days on the playground.

Our socialization will be held on November 14th at 10 and 3:30 at 1901 First Ave. Come enjoy our Fall Fun Play Group and meet some new friends.

Attendance is important for your child's learning. We need students to be here on time every day. If they are missing for a couple of days they need a doctors note. If you need to go out of state or on an emergency please stop by the office and fill out a form so the principal can sign it and it can be counted as excused. If your child was here every day in the month of October and was never late or dismissed early they will be receiving an Outstanding Attendance award with a book!
