Race 2 Read October Challenge
We are now gearing up for our October Race 2 Read Challenge! Since October is National Pizza Month the top class will win a pizza party for the month of October!
*Mrs. Miller and the district monitor the minutes logged and will make adjustments accordingly. If a student logs over 300 minutes on a school day that is cause for concern and the reading log is flagged.
We already have logged over 80,000 minutes which is 12% of our 667,000-minute goal. I can't express my excitement at how far we have come! This time 2 years ago we only had 4,000 minutes logged. We are building a culture of reading one student and one book at a time!
Reminder: ELA teachers can log minutes for your whole class! I will link a how-to video below! Top readers and teachers will be rewarded at the end of the month!
Most students should have 30 minutes for breakfast and books daily! Teachers/Staff, you can log minutes too! If you are a reader I encourage you to log your time as well!
Teachers and Students can access Beanstack via My BackPack.
Congratulations to Ms. T. Johnson and team 6-5
Race 2 Read
Atlanta Public Schools is raising the bar for reading via our district-wide APS Race2Read: Build A City that Reads
challenge! APS is challenging your child to read at least 20 minutes a day, five days a week.
As we Race2Read, we’re creating a culture of engaged readers across APS. Read for pleasure, read to find out,
read to defend a point of view, read to persuade, read to laugh, read to cry, read to understand. Read novels,
newspapers, comics, and more. Read, read, read anything! Just be sure to log your minutes.
You can learn more about Race 2 Read by clicking here. Spanish copy is available by clicking here.
