Where Excellence is the Tradition
Daily Health Screenings
Jody Pierce BSN RN
Clayton Ridge MS/HS Nurse
With COVID-19 cases continuing to climb in Northeast Iowa, as well as Cold and Influenza season quickly approaching, the Clayton Ridge Nursing Staff would like to remind parents to screen children for symptoms of illness before leaving for school in the morning.
If your child has:
One High-Risk Symptom
New Cough
Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
New loss of taste or smell
or
Two Low-Risk Symptoms
Fever (greater than 100.4)
Headache
Muscle/body aches
Fatigue
Sore throat
Runny nose
Sinus Congestion
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
If your child falls into either of these categories, please keep the child at home and speak with your doctor for further direction. If you have any questions, please call school and speak with one of the nurses, available at both campuses.
Delta Dental / Rethink Your Drink Program
Renae Kraus, Pre K – 5 School Nurse
Clayton Ridge Elementary was selected as a recipient of a new water fountain/bottle filling station through Delta Dental Foundation’s Rethink Your Drink Campaign.
In addition to the new fountain/bottle filling station, all students will receive a new reusable water bottle and toothbrush. The Rethink Your Drink program aims to get more kids drinking water throughout the day to support their oral and overall health. Consuming enough water supports the immune system and may lessen headaches, sleepiness, and stomach aches which ultimately helps students be present and ready to learn. This program encourages kids (and adults) to choose water and low-fat milk instead of sugar-sweetened beverages.
Elementary students will be given their new water bottle and toothbrush this week to bring home. (If your child brings this water bottle back for use at school, please be sure to label it with his or her name.)
Halloween Mask Donation
Rosalie Kickbush sewed Halloween print face coverings for ALL Clayton Ridge students (PK-12).
Students welcomed Rosalie and distributed the masks to all classes.
If you wish to send Rosalie a thank you note from your class, this is her address.

What's new here at the library?
Well, a lot!
Just like everyone else, the Guttenberg Library has had to make some adjustments to our hours and how we operate during our open hours because of Covid-19. Our temporary hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We still offer curbside pick up Monday - Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Just give us a call and we will get your books ready for you and set them outside on our cart for you to pick up.
Our Grab-N-Go craft bags are now available for November. We have 2 different crafts available. Preschool - 3rd grade and 4th - 8th grade.
Visit the Guttenberg Public Library's Facebook page for Ms. Nancy's online storytimes. A new one will be posted every month. She will be reading books, singing songs, and doing interactive activities. We will also be taking virtual field trips and having guest readers.
Adult readers can join the library for The Great Stay At Home Winter Reading Challenge. It will start November 2. You can download the reading log from our website or stop by the library for a copy and to get further details.
The Guttenberg Library will be closed the following dates: November 11, 26, and 27.
Hope to see you visiting the library soon!
