Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
December is here! Thank you to all the families who joined us for conferences last week. I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving Weekend. If you have not checked ParentVue, 12-week grades are posted and viewable. We only have about 6 weeks left of the semester! Now is the time for students to kick things into high gear. Remember we have after school support Mondays - Thursdays with transportation home at 3:45pm.
We had a great time yesterday at Portland Center Stage! Several students were invited to join in the play and read lines for It's A Wonderful Life. The play was a radio broadcast version of the story. It wasn't until the second half of the play that the story really "came to life" with theatrics. Students stayed engaged and were a wonderful audience.
Our next school dance is Friday, December 16th from 7pm - 9pm and student leadership is currently planning out all of the details! Our Fall Fest in October was a huge success and we look forward to a strong student turnout later this month.
As always, remember to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Take care and enjoy the weekend,
Ryan Blaszak

December Spotlight Students
Ezra Monda
Future Plans After High School: Probably going into law school. If I can, getting into a professional basketball team.
Grade: 9
Interests: Playing basketball a lot. I enjoy weightlifting and video games are another interest of mine.
Favorite subject in school: Probably math. It’s something I’m pretty good at.
Favorite thing about STHS: Probably the community. It’s just a nice, fun community.
Eryn Rivers
Future Plans After High School: Probably just Mt. Hood Community College for right now. I might like to study business management or something to do with criminology.
Grade: 10
Interests: I like to play music at home. My music taste, it varies.
Favorite subject in school: I don’t think I have one. I’m not a big fan of school. I guess I’ve always liked English because I like writing.
Favorite thing about STHS: How small it is. With my anxiety, I can’t do big crowds, so if I couldn’t get into STHS, I’d do online school.
Asa Najdek
Future Plans After High School: I don’t know
Grade: 11
Interests: Star Wars and the Beatles
Favorite subject in school: Social Studies, because it’s interesting
Favorite thing about STHS: I don’t know

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
Oregon is seeing an increase in cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV is a common respiratory virus that is spread through respiratory droplets, direct contact and by touching contaminated surfaces. For most children, RSV produces mild illness, however children under 2 years old are especially susceptible to RSV and are at increased risk of severe illness and hospitalization. Many school age children have siblings at home who may be younger and more susceptible to severe illness and hospitalization.
Schools can help reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses, including RSV, COVID-19, and influenza. The ways we can prevent the spread of RSV and other respiratory illnesses are familiar and include:
frequent and thorough handwashing
covering coughs and sneezes
keep children home when they are sick
masking
disinfection of high-touch surfaces
Retirement Announcement
As December 21st approaches, my last day at Springwater, I find myself feeling so grateful for the opportunity to work at Spirngwater. Mr. Blaszak, every teacher and staff member comes to school every day knowing that every single one of our students MATTERS. That is the beauty of Springwater!!!
To the students of Springwater, thank you for your trust, your courage, your strength, and your vulnerability. Your insight and ability to communicate and repair blows me away everyday.
To the parents and guardians of Springwater students, thank you for allowing me to guide, help, listen to, and care for your children. I know raising young adults is a challenging endeavor. It has been an honor to share some of your struggles and celebrations.
I have been a part of a handful of organizations that I consider magical. My daughter’s first daycare provider, volunteering at the Dougy Center, are just a few. Springwater is at the top of my list of magical places.
With respect,
Linda Centurion

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
