MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Atkinson Families,
Next Thursday from 6–7:30 p.m., we will be hosting our Specials Night. Specials at Atkinson include music, art, library, and PE. Please join us to see all the fabulous things your kids are doing in these classes. More information can be found HERE.
In March we will be fundraising for a few projects:
- Teacher’s Amazon Wish Lists
- Atkinson Foundation to supplement staffing shortages (goal of $3,500)
- PTA’s Resiliency Funds to support Atkinson families in need
Looking ahead to May, Run for Atkinson is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 3, weather permitting. This event is a fundraiser for arts supplies and programming as well as PE and recess equipment. We will host a T-shirt design contest. Students who raise at least $10 will receive a free t-shirt.
Be looking for more information about all of these in our upcoming Friday newsletters.

STUDENT STORE
Our Student Store will soon be open for students to buy fun things with their hard earned Cheetah Paws. Please ask your child how Cheetah Paws are earned. Do you own a business or have access to something that students would love to “buy” at the Student Store? It can be an item or an experience. Examples: toys, school supplies, clothing, a coupon for a free item… We are still looking for volunteers for our store (now open Thursdays 1–3 p.m.). If you can help, contact Lilly (lilwilliams@pps.net) or Darcy (dwilde@pps.net).
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, MARCH 1ST
Registration for Kindergarten 2024-25 will start on Friday, March 1st. Register at your neighborhood school even if you've applied for a lottery or transfer to another school. Register online HERE.
USE OF BATHROOMS AFTER SCHOOL
There has been some confusion about whether students are able to use school bathrooms after school. To clarify, students are welcome to use school bathrooms after 3:05 p.m., but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
OREGON BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The OBOB finals will be on Tuesday, February 27th at 1:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Everyone is welcome to come and see the Chapter Cheetahs and the Sweet Stings battle to become the Atkinson OBOB Champion for 2024! The champions will continue onto the Regional Battles on March 16 at Marysville Elementary.
DÍA DE LOS NIÑOS — SUPPORT NEEDED!
Planning for our annual Atkinson Elementary Día de los Niños event is in full swing and we need your support to make it a success. Día de los Niños is a special day dedicated to the celebration of how playful, bright, imaginative, and curious children are, and the joy that they bring to the world. This year, our Atkinson Elementary community will celebrate Día de los Niños on Friday, April 26 from 6–8 p.m., but we need your support to make this happen. This is a free event for the entire Atkinson Elementary community and is sponsored by the Atkinson PTA and organized by the Atkinson Amigos parent group.
Your support matters!
- Donate Money: Help us raise $3,000!
- Be a Volunteer: This is a big event that needs a lot of hands-on help. We need more volunteers. It would be wonderful to have 3–4 parent/family volunteers from each class.
- Donate Items: If you prefer to donate a specific item, we have a list of items to choose from.
- Spread the Word: Ask your family and friends to help!
