Upcoming Schedule
AUGUST 21st
Freshman Orientation Day
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Who: Freshman Students & Parents
We hope you and your freshman will join us to receive all of the information you need to be successful DAY ONE.
There will be a session for Parents from 9-10 to learn more about Rock Ridge as well as helpful tips for navigating your child’s first year in high school. There will be an opportunity to buy gear from the Phoenix Peak, join our PTSO and get fully prepared for a great year!
The event will begin at 9:00 am in the school Auditorium doors open at 8:30 for early arrivals (recommended).
AUGUST 24th
First Day of School - A Day!
SEPTEMBER 7th
Back to School Night!
SEPTEMBER 8th - FIRST TAILGATE - TROPICAL OUT- 5:15-6:45
Come out to the tailgate before the football game for some face painting, sign making, lawn games and spirit giveaways. Be sure to dress in your best Tropical Attire!

Medication Drop Off
I will return to the health office on Tuesday August 22nd from 8:30-4:30 and I will be available to accept medications and/or action plans for SY 2023-2024. Attached (below) you will find the Authorization for Medication Form, the Allergy, Asthma, and Seizure action plans as well as the DMMP for diabetics. All forms and medications are to be submitted by the parent/guardian, students are not to bring medications to school!! If your student self carries an epipen, inhaler or diabetic supplies the appropriate action plan must be completed by your physician and on record in the health office prior to your student carrying their emergency medication. Prescription medication must be accompanied by the Authorization for Medication Form, received in the original bottle and must the prescription label match the physician’s order, over-the-counter medication should be in a new bottle. The authorization for medication must accompany all medications.

Cafeteria - Payment - Parent Liaison Message - Free/Reduced Lunch
Breakfast will be served daily beginning at 9:00AM, snacks will be served during Brain Break at 11:00AM and lunches will be served from 12:45-2:45 daily. See below for information for Free/Reduced lunch.

A reminder, families must apply for Ree/Reduced lunch EACH YEAR.
You can apply on the website (https://lcpshealthycafe.org), under the Free and Reduced tab with the links to apply for the meals program. The Free and Reduced Lunch Program provides free and reduced-price meals to students meeting income eligibility guidelines. The student's parent or guardian will obtain an Eligibility Letter in response to a meals benefit application and if you are still waiting to receive that letter, please email cafe@lcps.org or call School Nutrition Services at 540-751-2690. Families receiving Federal Benefits (SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid), need to make sure that an Eligibility Letter (approval letter) is received as a confirmation for 2023 – 2024 for all your children. Schedules
Schedules are live through Parent/StudentVue. Make sure you have completed all of the first day paperwork so you have full access to Parentvue, https://www.lcps.org/firstday
Please remember that the deadline to change courses was last Spring. We have built the school schedule based on student requests. At this time there are not options for changes as classes and staffing were based on requests. We are not able to honor a late request for a course change.
Schoolinks
Onboarding for Schoolinks- Students and parents this is your homework to complete ASAP. Schoolinks is accessed through LCPS Go. Please have your student complete the following. Doing this will jumpstart your students’ progress!!!
- Student Logins

- Complete the “Find the Path” Assessment
- Complete the “Learning Style” Assessment
Seniors
Common App is open for this year!!! Please sent up your account NOW!!!
After setting up your Common App account. Set up your Schoolinks account.
From there counselors will walk students through:
- How to link your Common App and Schoolinks
- How to add colleges and make transcript request
- Please note do not make teacher letters of recommendation request through Common App. We will be using Schoolinks for letters of recommendation.
We will work with seniors through their senior meetings and send out more information on using Schoolinks.
“Freshmen Orientation Day” is Monday from 9am-12pm. Parents please stay from 9-10 am. In the auditorium we have a parent information session.

SENIOR PAINTED PARKING Resumes Monday!
Remember, there is no county parking fee this year, and this is the ONLY way for seniors to have a reserved spot. This is only available for seniors. Seniors can get their design approved and pick a spot and come back a different day to paint.
Please make sure you complete ALL of the steps below in order to be able to choose & paint your spot.
- Design your spot and fill in the attached parking spot form here. This form must be printed and complete in order for you to pick your spot. You must hand draw the design on the paper.
- Pay $40 online, or bring cash or check with you to one of the painting days. You can pay online here.
PLEASE NOTE: Buying online does NOT reserve your spot- spots will only be reserved on a first come, first served basis at school - Check in at the SCA table in the front of the school and turn in your form/get your design approved. Once approved, choose your parking spot.
- Paint your spot during the dates below!

Parking Passes
Parking Passes: If you are going to drive a vehicle to RRH there are some rules and procedures to follow. Please find the information and a link to the mandatory parking pass application on the RRH website; https://permission.click/AlbGP/us/signee-info
Don’t delay and the passes are currently available at no cost to every driving student with parent’s permission. Use the link above to complete the on-line form and then seek me, SSO Kinkead out during your lunch. I will conform the form was completed, verify your driving status and then issue you a parking pass. Please only park in the front student parking lot (A-5). Ensure you don’t delay in obtaining your pass as enforcement will begin on September 5.
Fine Arts Information!
"Rockappella" A Cappella Club (8/25) – Our A Cappella Club, "Rockappella" is open to ALL students and will have its first rehearsal this Friday, August 25 at 8:30 a.m. in the Chorus Room (1817)! We will be working on this arrangement of "What About Us" for our Fall Concert. No previous experience is required, just a willingness to learn. We hope to see you there for donuts and some fun music making!
Choir Uniform Fittings (8/25 & 8/26) – All students in a registered Chorus class will have uniform fittings on Friday, August 25 or Saturday, August 26. Please sign-up for a time slot here, set a reminder in your phone & share your appt time with your parents/guardian. If you have difficulty with transportation & need assistance with a ride, please email Mr. Markwood! Any parents interested and able to assist with the fitting process can sign-up here to volunteer as well.

Parent Seminar on Vaping and Student Health
September 13th @ 6:00 pm, Rock Ridge High School Library
Fiona Brown, LPC, Rock Ridge’s Student Assistance Specialist, will hold an informational session and discussion with parents on the impact of vaping on teen learning, development and mental health. Strategies for discussing and preventing vaping and other drug use will be discussed. Email Fiona.brown@lcps.org with any questions.
