Wiggin Street Parent Update
December 10, 2021
Better Together
Traditions at Wiggin Street during the holidays include the Icelandic Book Flood known as Jólabókaflóð. In Iceland, books are exchanged on Christmas Eve, and you spend the rest of the night reading. People generally take their books to bed along with some chocolate. On Monday, Wiggin Street students will be able to choose books at no cost to be read over the holidays. Warm up some hot chocolate and cozy up with a good book!
We want to also remind you about our Lost and Found at Wiggin Street. Items will be donated over Winter Break, so please make sure you have your child look for any missing items. You can contact the office about any specific clothing items, and we will do our best to help locate them.
Below, you will see images below of some of the items that have been purchased over the past few weeks for students' sensory needs and our Kinesthetic Lab. Other items that have been purchased are standing desks, classroom light filters, and memory games. All of this was purchased with funds from last year's Math-a-thon! This year's Math-a-thon will begin in January with envelopes being handed out January 7th. We will be letting you know the plans for the money raised after we return for the New Year.
Thanks to all that volunteered today to make the Holiday Shop a great success! The kids were so happy and proud of the purchases they made for friends and family.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Gingerbread Man Play and Winter Concert.
Have a wonderful weekend!
With Warm Regards,
Christy Grandstaff

Gingerbread Man Play
Parents will have pods of 4 chairs/bleacher seats per family to provide social distancing. There is also an opportunity for older students to watch the play during their dress rehearsal on Dec. 13th.
Grades 3-5 Wiggin Street Winter Performance
Wiggin Street Elementary 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are preparing a winter program for December 16th! (The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders will prepare a performance in the spring.) Students will walk to and from Rosse Hall the day of the program for rehearsal. Please have your child dress for the weather.
LOCATION/TIME: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students report at 6:30pm. The program will begin at 7:00pm. The program will be at Rosse Hall on the campus of Kenyon College.
ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL: Students and families can enter through the Rosse Hall entrance or through the side doors closer to Brandi Recital Hall. Students will meet in Brandi Recital Hall (in the same building as Rosse Hall) and check in with their teacher. Homeroom teachers will sign students out to 1 adult after the performance.
GUIDELINES:
Only two guests per student will be allowed to attend. Plan to sign in. This allows for social distancing in the theatre. Guests should plan to be seated by a volunteer to ensure the safest spacing.
Masks are required for attendance. Students will have the option to remove their masks for the singing portion of their grade level performance (less than 10 minutes).
ATTIRE: All students should dress in nice clothes the evening of the program.
5th graders should wear nice dark clothes, if possible (navy blue, black, etc). Why? It’s a surprise!
Looking forward to a celebration of the season with you!

Thrive Kids Weekly Update
This week we worked together on teams to come up with a solution for what to do when we get frustrated with a member of our team! We worked together to make a plan BEFORE we came to the problem so they were better prepared to overcome the problem! We ended with a quick team workout that left the students legs and lungs burning! Next week will be our last week for this year!
See you all 12/16 at 8:15 am to MOVE and have FUN!
