Superintendent Dr. Martin-Knox hosts elementary and high school student forums
Superintendent Dr. Martin-Knox continued her student forum series meeting with elementary and high school students. At the two elementary forums, students representing all district elementary schools eagerly participated, sharing their positive experiences and challenges which ranged from a variety of classes, sports and clubs, school spirit, and their hopes for the remainder of the year.
At the high school forum, lots of smiles, laughs, and positivity was shared throughout the space as students interacted with each other and Dr. Martin-Knox. Students provided insight into their day-to-day, and their college and career aspirations. Thank you to the student participants from each school!
Our Schools
Three Trails Hawklets start their day in a unique way
Our youngest learners at Three Trails Preschool start their day in a unique way. Each Three Trails Hawklet answers the question of the day before entering their classroom. The question of the day sparks curiosity, engagement, and helps students learn reading and math skills while encouraging critical thinking.
Each month, Little Blue Elementary hosts a Terrific Kid assembly that represents a different trait of the month. The trait for the month for November was respectful. Students recognized are selected by their teachers for demonstrating the trait daily and for serving as examples to their peers. Parents of student recipients are invited to the assembly, where the students are recognized with a certificate, t-shirt, and fun game.
District students receive toy donations from Hands to Hearts KC
Blue Ridge, Robinson, and Westridge Elementary K-1 students received a special visit, and gift, from Hands to Hearts KC. Students were overjoyed as they unwrapped their gifts, discovering a new toy for them to take home and play with. The smiles on their faces were priceless! Hands to Hearts KC works to better the lives of children with food, clothing, toy, and book donations, as well as providing resources and support to communities in need.
RQS Culinary Arts Students Make Meals for the Community
Students in the award-winning Herndon Career Center Culinary Arts program prepared and distributed 500 meals for families in the Raytown community. Culinary students prepared meal packages, enough to feed a family of two, that were protein based and included starch and vegetables. This important event designed to help fight food insecurity is made possible through partnerships with 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, Kids Feeding Kids, Pete's Garden, and Lucky International Trading Inc.
Real World Learning Program connects students from RSHS to healthcare partner
As part of the district’s Real World Learning Program, Raytown South High School students who aspire to work in healthcare visited with and toured Swope Health facilities. The RWL Program helps students discover their passions, make meaningful connections, and turn what they love into successful postsecondary adventures through real-world connections. Following the tour, students met with several Swope Health associates and engaged in a Q & A panel.
