Farewells
Sadly we are saying goodbye to Ms Brooke Gibson who is leaving us as a Senior Leader at the end of the year. Brooke has tried to leave us several times now, however we have been able to twist her arm to come back in various roles. I am hoping that we will still be able to get her in every now and then as she has such a wealth of knowledge and contributes to our school in so many ways. Brooke is very much valued by all at IPS young and not so young and we are going to miss her immensely. Please make sure you touch base with her and share those memories which are many and varied.
Kelly Edwards
Kelly is another highly valued teacher here at IPS who has left and come back a few times over the years. Sadly we also say goodbye to Kelly at the end of the year. Kelly is a mentor and part time teacher in Ashleigh Blackwell's class this year. Ashleigh has been very grateful to Kelly for her expertise and guidance as she begins her craft as a teacher. Kelly has also been in the role of Team Leader Release Teacher, which has enabled her to teach at all levels across the school. Thank you Kelly for the time, consideration and commitment as a teacher, you have touched the lives of many, many children over the years, we wish you all the best for the future.
Andrew Birchler
Andrew has been away on study leave this year in Auckland, training to be a tutor of Reading Recovery Teachers. Sadly there are not any vacancies for this role in Taranaki at this time. Andrew has a strong desire to focus on making a difference for our tamariki in the area of Literacy and as such, Andrew has applied for and won a position of Resource Teacher of Literacy, operating out of Spotswood Primary School starting 2021. We thank Andrew for the impact he made here at IPS as a Reading Recovery Teacher, Within School Teacher for our Kāhui Ako and also year 3 & 4 teacher and Team Leader. All the very best Andrew for the future.
Appointments
Phillip has many years of experience as a teacher and leader and has strengths in sport, music and PB4L. Phillip loves all areas of teaching although has an extra special love of the middle school area. Phillip is all about relationships, relationships, relationships.
Candice is currently teaching here at IPS in the Junior area. Candice also holds the position of Across School Teacher for our Kāhui Ako o Kōhanga Moa and will continue with this aspect within her Senior Leader role. Candice has strengths in Early Childhood Education and Mana Profiling, all of which will be utilized to strengthen our actions moving forward.
The three Senior Leaders of Candice, Michael and Phillip will give added value to the fantastic team here at IPS.
Congratulations
Katie West competed at the Taranaki Fancy Dance Competitions during labour weekend.
She received the Kate Byrne Cup. This is awarded to the person who showed the most passion in dance. She danced in 5 choreographed dances. She's worked really hard this year also passing her pre elementary jazz exam and her classical one ballet. These are very hard exams and she passed them which really good marks.

Looking for something to do with your child from 4.30pm-6.30pm for the next 8 weeks. Bring a picnic mat, have a natter with other adults, while your child comes and plays! If you have a 5 - 12 year old - let them come and have a play in the park! We will have all sorts of equipment out that they can come and have a go with.
You just need to sign your child in, sit back and watch from your picnic mat while our Kelly Sports Taranaki coaches have gear available to play with. We really look forward to seeing you there!
