Dear Cougars and Family

Each year, in November we traditionally host S.T.E.A.M. Day at St. Catherine of Siena School so that our students can experience hands-on activities that celebrate the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics - and give them a chance to work together and learn from each other.


While we can’t host S.T.E.A.M. Day in person this year, we can still celebrate!

Let's Have Fun!

Yes! This is a collection of great activities that are done in ten minutes. Just simple materials, you can gather from home, or whatever. It'll be absorbing for kids of all ages and older ones can do them independently. No protective gear required!

Ms. Martinez (K): Symmetrical Pictures

Materials:

  • Symmetry templates
  • coloring tools (pencils, crayons, markers)

Materials:

  • 2 sheets tinfoil

  • 9 candy corn candies

  • a tub/bin half-filled with water

Ms. Terrazas (2nd): Paper Plate Marble Maze

Materials:

  • 1 paper plate

  • 1 marble

  • 1 craft straw

  • 1 pipe cleaner

  • 3 popsicle sticks

  • Pre-cut 24 inches blue painters tape wound on a popsicle stick

Materials:

  • Grade level puzzle packets
  • writing tool (pencil, pen)

Can you solve it?

A logic puzzle requires you to use reasoning to solve a problem.


Read each clue carefully. Place an X in a box that the clues allow you to eliminate.


For example: If Alan rides a vehicle with four wheels, you can eliminate the bike which only has two wheels.


If you got colored bears you can place the bears over all the squares and then remove them as you work through the puzzle.
