NEW PE ACTIVITY FOR CIS STUDENTS
Clinton Intermediate School students are having fun with something new this year in Coach Johannsen's PE class.
Nine-square is a game that is a cross between volleyball and 4-square. In this game, the server hits the ball to another square and the person in that square has to keep the game going by hitting to another square. If the ball is not hit, or hit all the way out of the big square, the player is out. The ultimate goal is for players to make it to the middle square. Students are learning how to focus on the ball, move quickly, and have a strategy!

PAGE-TURNING PALS
Our big Cardinals enjoy spending time with our little Cardinals, and the close proximity of Clinton Middle School and Clinton Early Childhood Center provides a great environment for this to happen!
Students in Mrs. Vetsch's Reader’s Workshop class recently ventured over to CECC to share their experiences as emerging readers with the district's youngest learners. CMS students read holiday-themed books to CECC students. It was a meaningful and rich experience for all involved.

RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE
Developing a culture of excellence is a priority in the Clinton School District. When these high levels of achievement and expectations are attained, it's important for us to recognize it.
At the November Board of Education meeting, the district recognized several outstanding students from Henry Elementary School. The students listed below are part of the school's leadership team. These students assist with the student store, The Cardi Market, and other school projects throughout the year. At the board meeting, students even had the chance to sell snacks to board members. The Student Leadership Team is part of Henry Elementary's participation in the Leader in Me program, which is based on Steven Covey’s book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Henry Elementary principals, Morgan Patrick and Jordan Townsend, as well as Reading Interventionist Melynne Jones, also provided a building update to the board.

MARKETING MAGIC
Clinton High School students in Mrs. Thompson's Introduction to Marketing class have been creating their own product displays for the holiday season. Students were tasked with creating a seasonally appropriate display that would increase sales in a concession stand. They planned their displays and showcased Clinton Cardinals merchandise alongside various concession offerings. Displays were judged on the customer's ability to access merchandise, a clear distinction of merchandise vs decoration, and visual appeal.
Winning teams are as follows:
First hour: Jakin Bradbury, Quin Meek-Dennis, Daniel Peek
Third hour: Yancarlo Godoy, Claire Gray, Cody Mitchell
Fourth hour: Ryan Lowe, Ayson Zink, Hayden Schlesener

BAKING UP MEMORIES
Clinton Early Childhood Center students in Ms. April's and Ms. Pam's classes recently turned their dramatic play area into a bakery! Students have enjoyed pretending to bake yummy treats for their friends.
Students also enjoyed visiting a real bakery! Thank you to our community partners, Blue Ribbon Bakery for allowing our students to visit and tour their business....and for treating each student to a cookie!

LIFE-SAVING ADVENTURES
Students in Clinton Technical School's EMT class have had a very busy first semester.
Twenty-nine students passed their adult and pediatric CPR certification tests and are now ready to help if needed.
Students also had the opportunity to tour Clinton Fire Department and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare ambulance station. They enjoyed touring the vehicles, trying on gear, and asking questions about the career field. Thank you to both of these great organizations for opening their doors to our students.

COLLABORATIVE CULINARY CREATIONS
Last week's Clinton High School food truck event was a HUGE success!
This project called for all hands on deck, and included the collaboration of multiple programs/classes at CHS. Students learned about teamwork, problem-solving, time management, creativity, and gained some great real-world experiences. Thanks to World Foods, Agriculture Science, Art, Business, and Shop students and teachers who all played a part in this great event.

CHANGES TO WEBSITE
The district is making plans to undergo a website redesign. In preparation for this, some changes have been made on our current website that we wanted to make you aware of.
In the past, the district had a separate website for each building. Previously, these sites were accessed at the top of the page as seen in image 1 below.
Currently, the only website that is available from this drop-down menu is the Clinton Technical School. The other 5 buildings' info can be found underneath the "Our Schools" tab in the red banner (as seen in image 2). Here you will find building-specific information for each school.
If you have any questions, or are unable to locate something that you have in the past, please email alawson@clintoncardinals.org

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Cardinal Compliment program is a way for you to salute any Clinton School District employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you're a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnesses a staff member’s commitment to kids - you can send a Cardinal Compliment!
Supervisors, including the superintendent, will see your submission. The employee will receive a certificate of gratitude and a token of appreciation that lets everyone know he or she was given a Cardinal Compliment.
Every month, Cardinal Compliment recipients will be listed on the district website and posted on the district Facebook page to let others know the names of the district's difference makers!
