Proper School Incident Reporting
At Longleaf School of the Arts, we make it part of our mission and daily practice for EVERY student to feel safe emotionally and physically and to experience a caring response from a trained adult if there is any time that they do not. We are very fortunate at Longleaf that our students, families, and staff can be assured that they can report a problem and that it can and will be followed up on immediately due to our highly-responsive Student Services staff and administration.
Our counselors and administrators work with students who come to us daily from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences and have vastly different needs. We give every one of them the individual support or response that is appropriate to their needs and situation. In some cases, we are able to share outcomes of our support, response, and/or investigation with others. In most cases, for ethical, legal, or personal privacy reasons we are not able to so. Confidentiality is one of the important parts of our jobs, as it helps protect relationships, provide safety, and provide a fair educational environment for every student. Our school community can be assured that any report or claim of a serious emotional or physical safety problem receives the prompt, serious, and professional response that it deserves. In addition, any student or parent that has a concern or question about an issue is welcome to reach out to Mrs. Williams or their direct counselor, and we are certain to get the question answered or follow up on the concern.
This week, social media was used to falsely inform students that a Google form needed to be used to share information regarding situations they have experienced with no support from school administration. As stated above, any report or claim of a serious emotional or physical safety issue receives the professional and legal response that is required based on the incident. Students have ways to report any incident at Longleaf School of the Arts. One way of reporting is through a 24-hour anonymous reporting system: See Something, Say Something. All students have been trained to use this system to report incidents. This can be used regardless of the level of comfortability students may have with sharing information. https://www.p3campus.com/tipform.aspx?ID=3000&HF=1&Logo=0&X=1&H=0
The school also has a link to an incident-reporting form on the school's website homepage. https://www.longleafschool.org/.
The Google form that is being shared on social media is not in any way associated or affiliated with the school. However, both parents of the student who is receiving the information (one a nurse and the other a police officer) have informed school adminstration that they will share resources with any student who decides to share their information through the Google form. The school is not legally responsible for any information shared through the Google form that students are accessing through social media.
Parents, please speak with your student(s) regarding the proper way to report incidents. Please contact the police if there is any incident that require their attention.

Important Test Dates and Information - Mark Your Calendar!
PreACT - November 9th (10th Graders ONLY)
ALL 10th grades students will take the PreACT at Longleaf School of the Arts on Wednesday, November 9th.
November 9th - Fall Community Service Day!
Students in grades 9, 11 & 12 will be participating in a community service day on November 9, 2022, since the 10th grade class will be taking the PreACT. This day will be a great time to serve the greater community and get community service time.
Students have the option of organizing their own community service project on this day. Students will be required to submit a signed community service form for work completed that day for credit; otherwise, their absences will be marked as unexcused. For your convenience, attached is a community service form.
NOTE: Students who may have completed their community service still need to plan on participating in community service, an educational opportunity, or a job shadowing experience on November 9, 2022, in order to not be counted as an unexcused absence.
Additional hours will be a little extra bonus for college applications, NHS members, and other community club members who are required to have community service.
Our Mission:
Longleaf School of the Arts will develop students into confident, responsible, and successful contributors in college, career, and community through mentorship and a challenging curriculum that integrates academics and the fine arts.
LSA Students are Headed to NYC!
All students in performing or visual arts are eligible to join us for our trip to New York in spring of 2023!
Registration Link: https://spark.worldstrides.com/
Tour Code: TGWU2LV
Students registering do have to select a discipline; visual art students should select a performing art with which to initially register. This does not affect chaperone groupings or itineraries, it is merely a way for our tour company to track costs.

Attention: All LSA Parent/Guardian who are Doctors or Nurses
As we continue to add afterschool and outside experiences for our students, we would like to have additional safety measures in place. We would like to have a list of all doctors and nurses who are a part of our school community. The goal would be to have at least on person as a volunteer for medical staff.
