Dear Students & Families,
I want to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are able to rest, relax, and spend quality time with friends and family. I continue to be incredibly grateful to lead Aspen High School, to work alongside a stellar staff, to engage with incredible students, and to partner with our fantastic families.
Mental Health
As we head into the holiday season, we want to remind everyone that this time of year can be very difficult for some people. If you or someone you care about is struggling, please reach out for help. Students have access to their counselors here at school, as well as a mental health professional from the Hope Center. We also want everyone to remember that the Hope Center is available 24/7:
Aspen Hope Center, 24-hour Hope Line 970-925-5858
Cell Phones
As we continue to focus on the mental health of our students, we know that cell phones have a negative impact on students’ well being. Here is an opinion piece regarding cell phones.

10th Grade Students & Families: PERSONAL PROJECT
Attention 10th Grade Parents!
Your student has begun working on their personal project during their SET time. The Personal Project is the culminating project of the Middle Years Programme for IB. This year’s sophomore class will be our first class of students to complete the project. Already, we are impressed with students’ ideas and we’re excited to see what they accomplish through their projects.
At this time, students have chosen their project idea as well as the learning and product goal. Currently, they’re working on developing their success criteria and action plan and will soon be starting to follow their action plan to complete the project. The goal is for students to be completed with their projects by January 15th.
Talk to your student about their projects and check out the handbook to learn more about the entirety of the project.
If you have any questions, please contact me at kkorn@aspenk12.net,
Kate Korn
Personal Project Coordinator

Calling All Juniors:
Right after the break …
A second Junior & Parent Evening Meeting is scheduled for November 29 at 5:30pm, click here for the virtual meeting link. We'll hear words of advice from a college admissions officer, discuss the junior year timeline, and go over priorities and programming specifically for juniors. Live Spanish translation will be available.
Now that so many of the seniors have submitted their first round of college applications, we can turn our attention to the Class of 2025! All juniors are encouraged to schedule an Individual Meeting with either Karen (students with last names A-K) or Brennan (L-Z). We recommend that each junior have at least two individual meetings - ideally one in the winter and one in the spring. Click here to schedule your meetings (scroll down to the Juniors section). ***Students are not allowed to miss class for these meetings. Please schedule before school or during SET, lunch, or a free period. *** So that the individual meetings are as productive as possible, completed junior intake and parent intake forms are requested.
