Dear SPASH Parents and Families:

Jon R. Vollendorf, Ed.D.
SPASH Principal
Pre-Arranged Absences
If your child will be absent for an extended period of time, including deer hunting, please have your child bring in a signed note to the Attendance Office from the parent indicating the dates they will be out of school. The student will be given a pre-arranged absence form to take to their teachers to complete. This procedure will ensure that your student will have their homework prior to their absence.
Family Address Information
If you have recently moved, please be sure that the school district has an updated address on file for your student/family. If you need to update your family address, please provide the district with a copy or a picture of a piece of mail with your name and current address. This information can be dropped off at the SPASH Main Office, the district office or emailed to dzarecki@pointschools.net. Once received, your information will be forwarded to the district office to be updated in Skyward for all students in your household. If you have any further questions regarding this procedure, please contact the Main Office at SPASH 715-345-5400.
Payment of Student Fees
Reminder to parents to pay your student fees as soon as possible. Fees can be paid in the SPASH Main Office or paid through Skyward Family Access. MasterCard or Visa (Debit or Credit Card) will be accepted. If paying online, parents will need their personal “parent” login and password. Using your student’s login and password will not give you access to the payment screen. Payments will immediately be posted to the student’s account. A $1 handling fee is charged to cover processing costs.
If your family is experiencing financial hardship, or qualify for free or reduced lunch, please complete a fee waiver form. Fee Waivers must be completed each year.
Student Parking
Reminder to students who drive to school and park in the student parking lot that SPASH requires students to purchase a parking permit each year. The permit hangs on your car's rear-view mirror.
The completed parking form, student's driver's license and payment of $50.00 are required to obtain a parking permit. Permits can be purchased in the in the SPASH Main Office or online through Family Access. If you are paying online, the completed form must be turned in to the Main Office to obtain your parking pass. Students must have a valid driver’s license in order to purchase a permit.
The SPASH parking lot is enforced by the City of Stevens Point. Students who park in the lot without a parking permit may be ticketed.

Stevens Point Area Online Learning Center (OLC)
Through a virtual learning environment with quality staff, the OLC proudly celebrates our 15th year enhancing and expanding current SPASH course offerings. We are happy to be supporting over 200 students this fall with both part-time and full-time enrollments. The OLC meets the individual learning needs of a diverse population of SPASH students in a variety of situations. We offer over 110 online courses in all core subject areas and many electives as well as several Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Besides mastering new content, we guide students to become more responsible, organized and independent learners with effective communication and literacy skills. We welcome students to apply now for the spring semester and/or the summer session. For more information, please visit the OLC website www.pointschools.net/olc or call the OLC office at 715-345-5400 ext 70104 or email us: secondaryolc@pointschools.net. We’re happy to help!
Seal-A-Smile Dental Program
Our district has returned to working with the Seal a Smile dental program! Seal a Smile is a program we previously participated in for school-based dental services. We will no longer be partnering with Bridging Brighter Smiles. Seal a Smile will be provided to us from Noble Community Clinics, formerly known as Family Health La Clinica. Noble will provide services at no cost to our students and their families regardless of insurance status, Medicaid, or ability to pay. The dental program will continue to include preventative dental services such oral exams, prophy (cleanings), sealant delivery, fluoride varnish placement, dental referrals, and oral hygiene instruction. Watch your email for more information if you are interested in Seal a Smile services.
Talking Transition Presentation Series
Talking Transition Presentation Series: topics for students with differing abilities and their families.
The postsecondary transition planning process can feel overwhelming unless you know what agencies are available to support you and your child. This presentation series provides information to students with disabilities, parents, and educators on various transition resources in Portage County. The events are free and will be held once a month on Monday evenings from 6:00 pm - 7:00pm.
Reach out to Wendy Christianson at wchristi@pointschools.net or 715-345-5400 ext. 70846 with questions or to request accommodations or an interpreter to participate in any of the events. Additional event information will be posted on the SPASH Transition Facebook Page. Please review each event for specific information on the topic and location. All events are in person and have a virtual option to attend. In-person locations vary. The next presentation will be Employment Services through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Forward Services on Monday, November 18, 2024 at The Commons Community Nonprofit Center, 2801 Hoover Rd, Stevens Point.
