Happy New Year !! Welcome back scholars and parents/caregivers!! We hope this winter break was safe and enjoyable for you and your family. Last year, we ended the 2023 school year off with a festive spirit week and last day of school assembly sponsored by SPEHS Student Council. What a great event! We are truly proud of and value our student leadership here at SPEHS. We had a tug a war battle for our 9th grade network teams during SP30 on Wednesday, December 20th. On Thursday, December 21st, our 9th grade network staff held a make-up day for scholars who were failing in their core courses by administering missing assessments and providing assistance with missing assignments. As a result of this event, many scholars are now passing and their selif-eestem

Upon scholars return on January 2nd, SPEHS staff enter 2024 believing our scholar have control over their learning and can accomplish their goals and dreams. The month of January is a busy month where scholars and families will be engaged in course expo on January 11th, course planning and selection at the end of the month, and completion of financial aid information for our seniors.

The first semester is wrapping up quickly. On January 5th, all missing work and formative assessments are due. There is still an opportunity this week to sign up for additional assistance during WIN time and 5th hour is also available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.. Last day for summative assessments is on January 12th with the end of the semester on January19th. Any questions you have about grades and class assignment, please reach out to your scholar's teacher.

A representative from Madison College will be visiting on the following dates in Student Services from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

• Thursday, Jan. 4th, 2024

• Thursday, Feb. 1st, 2024

If interested in meeting with the representative, please pick up a pass in Student Services.

The local scholarship application is now open. All seniors are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is February 28th. The link can be found on our website.

There is free help completing your FAFSA for anyone who is plannng on attendign college for the 2024 - 2025 school year. This free session will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 6 pm in SPEHS - LMC.

After-school tutoring, called 5th Hour, runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the LMC after school from 3:50-4:40 p.m. An after-school activity bus will be available at 4:45 pm out door 16 and is available for those that have a bus tag. Please feel free to join if you are looking for a quiet place to study or assistance with any academics.
