MBMS APPRECIATES THE SUPPORT OF FOOD LION @38th!
Food Lion on 38th generously supports Myrtle Beach Middle School! Thank you, Food Lion!
MBMS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL - PLEASE VOTE FOR YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
South Carolina School Improvement Council
Each year, South Carolina Schools are required by law to facilitate parents selecting, by vote, representation on the School Improvement Council. Please read below about the parents who wish to serve this year on the MBMS SIC, and then cast your vote using the form linked below. To read more about the SIC, use the link at the top of this paragraph.
Sara Boling Gore - I am a graduate of MBHS (1998). Go, Seahawks! I have a 6th grader at MBMS and would love to help with the SIC. I think it is important to give back to the community that has given so much to us. Our children deserve a place where they can thrive in their education and life. MBMS is such a wonderful place and I am happy to be here.
Meredith Kennedy - I am a parent of a 6th grade special needs student who has been a student in the Myrtle Beach Schools since 2015. My background is in higher education, specifically with at-risk adults. I have significant experience working with individuals living at or below the poverty level, but with a desire to greatly improve their life. I am keenly aware of how many students in our community also live in these circumstances and work hard every day to get to school, complete requirements, and meet expectations. If I am elected, I would work hard as well, to make sure all of our students and parents are represented.
Britney King - I am a Myrtle Beach native and proud to currently have 3 little Seahawks attending Myrtle Beach Schools. We have had great experiences at Myrtle Beach Middle school. This is my second year serving on the MBMS SIC. I am also heavily involved with the PTO and SIC at all of the Myrtle Beach Cluster SChools. I am passionate about students having the resources they need while getting the best education.
Deborah Lopes - Originally from Massachusetts, my daughter, who is currently a 7th grader at MBMS, and I moved here two years ago. Being part of my community has always been of utmost importance to me; involvement in the school system is a close second. I was involved in just about every board, committee, etc., at our old school on Cape Cod and after taking a couple of years off, I'm so ready to be involved again! Between running her elementary school's PTO, I was also a spearheader for playground beautification and school committees. I believe I could be a great asset to MBMS, venturing into ways to make our incredible school event better!
Samantha McGriff - I am the mother of an 8th grade student at MBMS. We have lived in the Myrtle Beach area for 9 years, I served in the military and now work as a local real estate agent. It is important to my family to be active in helping make the school and our community better for the area youth.
Ashley Setzer - This will be the third year serving on the SIC. Being involved in the support and needs of our Seahawks has been very rewarding. I am aware of how the SIC fundamentally functions and the projects and goals aligned to MBMS. I currently have a son in the 7th grade and a son in the 9th grade. If elected, I look forward to continuing the SIC goals aligned to MBMS.
Amy Wilkes - I am a speech-language pathologist and a mother of two children who attend Myrtle Beach Schools; a son who is a junior at MBHS and a daughter in 8th grade at MBMS. I have served on the School Improvement Council at MBMS for four years and am passionate about our schools' continual strive for excellence. I look forward to serving on the SIC at MBMS to ensure we make our school the best we can be while representing the parent voice. We are proud to be Seahawks!

ANTI-BULLYING AND UNITY DAY
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Each Thursday throughout the year students and staff are encouraged to wear purple to raise awareness of stopping the bullies.Horry County Schools and Myrtle Beach Middle School are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, and part of that is creating a climate where bullying is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We know that safe and supportive environments help prevent bullying behaviors. FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS IN 2023-2024
All students in Horry County Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2023-2024 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for qualifying schools and school districts. CEP allows breakfast and lunch to be offered to all enrolled students at no cost.
This year, CEP in South Carolina has expanded to include students who receive Medicaid benefits, enabling all HCS schools to qualify for the 2023-2024 school year. Participation in this program also eliminates the requirement for parents/guardians to fill out Free and Reduced Meal applications.
Students will still have the option to purchase additional meals, food & snack items, and beverages at Ć la carte prices. Ć la carte items can be paid for in cash or by prepayment on the studentās cafeteria account. Charging for Ć la carte sales is not allowed. Prepayments can be made by cash or check at your childās school cafeteria or with a debit card by setting up an account at myschoolbucks.com. Any charges remaining on a studentās cafeteria account from a prior school year are still the parentās responsibility. If needed, payment arrangements for larger balances can be made by contacting the school cafeteria manager.
Please click here to review the menus for breakfast and lunch - HCS Menus.
NEED TO PICK YOUR STUDENT UP EARLY?
