CDC Updates and Shortens Isolation and Quarantine Period
The CDC recently changed the guidance for isolation and quarantine of people who test positive for COVID-19. We are now implementing them at Hinton CSD. This change is based on studies demonstrating the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to the onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.
- People who test positive for COVID-19 should isolate themselves for five days with the symptom onset being Day 0.
- People may return on day 6 or any day after if they do not have any symptoms. People need to be fever-free for 24 hours, regardless of diagnosis.
- The CDC also recommends wearing a mask on Days 6-10.
The CDC recommends students who are exposed at home to COVID should stay home for five days. If staying home is not feasible then the CDC recommends they wear a mask for ten days after exposure.
We Are In This Together
Please continue to monitor yourselves and your children for symptoms. We were able to help the system out in the past by being diligent in that regard. We are seeing an increase in illnesses (COVID, Strep, Flu) in schools around the area. We will not be able to prevent all COVID infections but the more we catch early the better off we will be. We want to keep everyone as safe as we can and keep children in school.
