Winter Concerts Make the Season Bright!
Park Elementary students started off the holiday concert season with their performance on December 5, followed by the middle school and high school vocal and instrumental concert on the 13th, and the Central Elementary concert on the 14th.
USD 405 is truly blessed to have such a talented and dedicated music staff including: LMS/LHS Band Instructor Andrew Scherer, LMS/LHS vocal music instructor Brett Callan, Central Elementary Music Teacher Kaylee Brooks, Park Elementary Music Teacher Madeline Goans, LMS/LHS Music Para Chiton Brinson, LMS/LHS Accompanist Megan Giorgeti, and Central Elementary Accompanists John and Mary Berkheimer.

Think Before You Post
Chet Kuplen from Sports in Kansas presented "Think Before You Post" to Lyons High School and Lyons Middle School students and staff on December 14. Thank you to the local sponsors including Lyons Kiwanis Club, Ad Astra Radio, Lyons Rotary Club, MTC, Pride Ag, and Tory Tipp State Farm.
Think Before You Post focuses on the importance of an individual's digital footprint including topics like -digital citizenship, online reputation, social media etiquette, viral posting, communicating without your phone, cyberbullying, online criminal activity, texting and driving, and utilizing social media in jobs and networking.

LHS Wrestling Finishes 2023 in Winning Form
The Lyons High School boys and girls wrestling teams finished the Chase County Wrestling Tournament as the runner-up in the school competition. The boys finished 4th of 11 schools. The girls finished 3rd of 12 schools.

So You Want to be a Board Member!
The USD 405 - Lyons Board of Education has an unexpected vacancy. Persons interested in serving in this vital position must be a registered voter, reside within the boundaries of USD 405, and not be employed by USD 405. To apply, contact superintendent Bill Day for an application at bday@usd405.com. The Board of Education will review applications on January 8th and set up a schedule for interviewing candidates, before appointing someone to fill the open seat until the next general election in 2025.
