Message from the desk of Van Lewsader
Dear VCMS Families,
The 22-23 school year is coming to an end. As the final days of May count down, each and every student is encouraged to finish strong. Make sure every formative and every summative is completed to the best of his ability. Every student is encouraged to lead by example. Be respectful, responsible, ready to succeed, and reflective. Students should be encouraged to chase their dreams by creating a plan that has timely and attainable goals. The summertime is a great time spend quality time pursuing your passions. In doing so, take time to recognize your journey and success. Celebrate them. So let’s take a moment to recognize and celebrate some of our recent events and look forward to upcoming events.

Looking ahead, VCMS parents should have received email notifications about your child’s 23-24 course placements in Parent Portal. The window to see your child’s course placements is only open from May 8-12. You are encouraged to take a screenshot of these placements for your records since you will not be able to see the placements after May 12. There should be 5 academic course placements. Teachers no longer have access to make placement changes. If you have a question about your child’s placement, contact the VCMS grade level administrator.
In closing, I want to thank the students for striving to be their best and doing their best each day. I want to thank you, the parents, for your year-long support to your child and our school. I want to thank our dedicated and passionate teachers for all their efforts. I want to thank the amazing PTO and all of the wonderful parent volunteers. This is why VCMS is a special school in a wonderful community. That’s why this is home for all of us. We celebrate the good and we address any concerns as they arise because we care and want to continue being a great school and community.
With best regards,

VCMS Media Center
Summer is almost here!
As we near the end of the year I ask your help in collecting and returning library books to the media center. The cost to our school in unreturned library materials adds up quickly.
To see if your student has any outstanding library books:
Log on to your student's Classlink page
Click on the Media Center Catalog icon
Select 'My Stuff' at the top of the page
Choose 'Checkouts' to view books currently checked out to your VCMS student
If you are unable to locate your VCMS library materials, you may do either of the following:
Send in the replacement cost for the lost book via cash or a check made payable to VCMS
OR
Send in a new, hardcover copy of the missing book in its stead (many times a reasonably priced copy can be purchased through Amazon or the like)
Please have students bring money for lost books or new, replacement copies to me in person so that I may record their payment/replacement on their account.
Thank you so much for your assistance in maintaining our VCMS library collection.
Best,
Lauren Tafuto
Read by Mrs. Macdonald
This is the sequel to Six of Crows. The character development is amazing and it is full of so much misdirection that I never know what is going to happen next!
Read by Mr. Anderson
I am looking forward to reading some fun fiction after all the serious history that I have been reading lately.
Read by Ms. Macdonald
This is the 3rd book in the Summer series and it's interesting to see where these characters are now versus the 1st book. I'm excited to find out who the main character ultimately ends up with.
