From Safety & Security...
Greg Kokoski joined us at MSHS as our new security officer. He will spend time in the SILC building and MSHS. He came to Colorado from Nashville, Tennessee. The military brought him out here, He completed service of 11 years in the Army. Things he loves to do on his downtime are: going to the gym, DJing, and traveling. From Sources of Strength...
For January, Sources of Strength shares the benefits of setting intentions and goals for the new year. As we experience the shift to a new year, many are inspired to set resolutions to create a new sense of self. However, resolutions are not always aligned with mindful practices or self-compassion. For resolutions to be attainable, a person needs to find the balance between being resolute and being mindfully patient. Perhaps, instead of resolutions, we might focus more on intentions. As resolutions are strict, intentions are flexible. Intentions are where we focus our attention; intentions are mindful. Intentions or resolutions, whichever you practice, are about growth and improvement, bringing health, joy, and ease into your life and adding mindfulness to your new year practice will invite self-compassion, kindness, and awareness into our habits.
Last month, Sources of Strength invited you to engage in gratitude. Gratitude allows you to notice your blessings and create balance from life's difficulties. Mindfulness helps you handle tough times with grace, acceptance, and surrender.
If you would like to join Sources of Strength, please join us at lunch on Thursdays in Dr. Moen’s room.
