The SHARK Alert
Chatham Elementary School Family Update
June 9, 2023
Dear CES Families and Friends,
The end of the school year is quickly approaching, but we still have lots in store for our CES community. Today marks the end of this year's After School Clubs. We hope students (and families) enjoyed all of this year's offerings. We'll be back at it in September!
Next week, we are excited to welcome families and friends into the building for two special events.
- The Fourth Grade States Fair takes place on Wednesday, June 14th in the CES cafeteria. Visitors will enter through the Main Entrance doors. Doors open at 8:30 am.
- The CES ARTS FESTIVAL takes place on Friday, June 16th. The concert begins at 12:30 pm and doors open at 12:15 pm. Please enter through the gymnasium doors in the pick-up/drop-off area. There will be performances by every grade level and student art work throughout the building on display.
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth Federal Holiday. On Tuesday, June 20th our Grade 4 students will be treated to a special day of memories and fun with the 4th-Grade Celebration. Our students in Grades K-3 will participate in Step-Up Day, a chance for the students to meet their teacher and visit their classroom for the 2023-2024 school year.
At the end of every year, we say goodbye to some staff members and hello to new ones. This year we have several changes to staffing and positions within our school.
- We are wishing a fond farewell, but never goodbye, to Mr. Liam O'Brien (STEM), Ms. Caitlin Otto (1st Grade), and Mrs. Taryn McEntee (special education) who are relocating to off Cape Cod. We hope they will bring a little bit of CES to their new homes and schools.
- Ms. Ann Marie Varella (math intervention) has been named the Monomoy Math Coordinator for Grades 5-12. She will be missed at CES, but we know she'll be back to visit and hopefully join us in the courtyard for gardening.
- Mrs. Jill Sanderson (special education) will be moving to HES and running a preschool classroom.
- Mr. Jake Wisniewski (special education) has accepted a position as a Health Teacher at Monomoy Regional High School. We are thrilled for him in this next phase of his educational career!
- Ms. Grace Galloway (special education) will be moving up the street to Monomoy Regional Middle School. She will be greatly missed, but we are thrilled she will be able to reconnect with former CES students in her new role.
- Ms. Cindy Macomber (4th Grade) is taking on the STEM teaching position at CES. Get ready for some incredible deeper learning projects next year!
- Ms. Allie Howell (3rd grade) will be moving to 2nd grade and partnering with Ms. Barbara Gula for the 2023-2024 school year. What a great team they will make!
CES is currently interviewing for classroom teacher positions in Grade 1 and Grade 4, as well as for a K-2 Math & Reading Interventionist and K-4 Math Interventionist. We will update the community as they are filled. CES will also be hiring several Instructional Assistants for the upcoming school year and are always in need of substitute teachers. Please visit Schoolspring.com or the Monomoy website if you have an interest in joining our amazing team!
Next week will be our final full week of this school year. Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to welcoming families and friends to next week's special events!
With sincere appreciation,
Dr. Kelly

Mobile Crisis
What is a Mobile Crisis Intervention?
Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) is the youth-serving component of Bay Cove's Behavioral Health Urgent Care program. MCI provides short-term service that is a therapeutic response to youth and family/caregivers experiencing a behavioral health crisis. MCI evaluates the situation, identifies the challenges, involved, asseses the needs and begins to treat and stabilize the situation, reducing the immediate risk of danger to the youth or to others. MCI then provides up to 7-days of intervention and services post the initial encounter. Learn more about Bay Cove Mobile Crisis HERE.
