Inclusive Schools Week Information
What is Inclusive Schools Week? Why Observe it?
The Inclusive Schools Network (ISN) explains that since its inception in 2001, Inclusive Schools Week has celebrated the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors.
They continued to say the week also provides an important opportunity for educators, students, and parents to discuss what else needs to be done in order to ensure that their schools continue to improve their ability to successfully educate all children.
In sum, Inclusive Schools Week allows us to take a moment to applaud the progress society has made toward building more inclusive school communities while pledging to continue our work toward becoming a more inclusive society.
We would like to know your thoughts by filling out our poll and sharing examples of inclusivity. Read more below and thank you in advance for being a partner in this effort we are growing each year with you!
VOTE: Our campus is a place we see inclusive practices.
SHARE: We'd Love to Hear From YOU!
Please contribute ideas to the slogan “Great things happen in inclusive schools.”
As a community, we are wondering, “What are some great things that happen in our inclusive school that you appreciate?"
Share those contributions with Dr. Sharp via email at amy.sharp@leanderisd.org BY FRIDAY, December 1st so we can share your thoughts publicly during our morning announcements, social media outlets, and Titan Time. If you wish to remain anonymous with your celebration, no problem at all! Simply let Dr. Sharp know in your email.
