Community Service Projects
As a Leadership School, we believe being a leader is not just about leading in our school but in our community as well. Giving back to the community and helping others is a big part of leadership. Our current community service project is sponsored by our Student Lighthouse Team and is called Share the Love and Support Our Troops. Items are being collected for military care packages and items for homeless veterans as well. This project is through an organization called Military Missions in Action. The collection drive ends on Feb. 14th. The grade level that collects the most items will receive an ice cream treat. If you have a loved one currently deployed with the U.S. Military, you can request they receive a care package - just go to militarymissionsinaction.org to make your request or click on this link:

Also, in February, we have another project that the students are doing at school. In Spectacular class, students are making thank you cards for the military to go with the care packages AND they are making Valentine Cards for children at UNC Children's Hospital and Wake Med Children's Hospital. Special thanks to Mrs. Godel for her help with this project. We are seeking lots of ways for our students to learn the importance of spreading kindness to others!

Character Trait & Habit for the Month
The character trait for February is Respect. Respect is about showing high regard for authority, other people, self, and country. It is about treating others the way you want to be treated and understanding that all people have value as human beings. Please encourage this trait throughout the month. Thanks for your help in promoting our character traits!
Also, our habit for this month is Synergize. Synergize means together is better. It means to value other people’s strengths and learn from them. It’s about getting along with others and being able to work as a team. . Help us encourage our students to synergize each day!
