Rebel Review
August 18, 2023 - School Opening!
Principal Message
South Families,
After a short weekend - we begin school on Monday! Our staff has been in the building preparing this week and are excited to start the year on a positive note. The positive momentum of our district was definitely apparent during our first few teacher days! We are excited to welcome students on Monday and get to the real reason why we are here - our students and their learning!
During our new student orientations on Thursday, I stressed to our 9th grade and new students that in order to alleviate the anxiety or nervousness for Monday, they really just needed to focus on getting to their 1st period class. Our staff will help throughout the day as students learn everything they need to for the new school year. To our returning students, I believe the message fits. I am sure that there are questions and schedules conflicts that may arise - no worries, get to your first class, and we can assist from there.
I look forward to meeting all of our students. We certainly have exciting experiences ahead during the 2023-24 school year.
Sincerely,
Andy Suttell
Principal

I wanted to provide you with a diagram that shows our traffic flow during arrival and dismissal to school. I realize that on the first few days, many of our community members will be new to the building and may not know the pattern. I know that we will all be patient during these first few days where typically traffic is slower getting into and out of the building as people get used to the procedures.

Parking Permits
Parking permits can be purchased next week Monday through Wednesday from 7:30-2:45 in the main office (regardless of grade). Cost is $20. A copy of your current insurance and all on-line school forms must be completed in order to purchase. The parking application can be found by clicking here, online on the South website, or you can pick one up in the office. Once school begins, permits can be purchased in the main office each day.
Late Arrival/Early Release
If you are eligible for late arrival or early release, you may pick-up a form in the main office and return it ASAP. If you return it before school starts, I will make that change on your schedule and you will be good to go on the first day back. Enjoy your last week of summer break!
Showing the Rebel Way All Day
We will begin to focus our students on behavior that help them keep their focu on their learning and the instruction of their teachers. As we begin the year, students will hear about the Rebel Way. Three easy ways to exhibit the Rebel way are the following:
Showing the Rebel Way All Day:
Show up on time - To school and EVERY class. Parents can set alert settings in PowerSchool for notifications when a student's period attendance does not match their daily attendance. Put away all personal technology in class - No cell phones or earbuds while in the classroom. Please remove earbuds from the ears during class. Cell phones/headphones are allowed to be used quietly in Lunch, full period study halls, and the hallway between periods. Pictures/video ARE NOT PERMITTED:in restrooms, locker rooms, or any area where there is “reasonable expectation of privacy,” nor in classrooms or of unsuspecting persons. Be cognizant of what is in the background of your pictures and videos regardless of where you are! Check your dress - No hoods or ski masks on in the building. You may wear a baseball or beanie cap if desired. Please express your personal style without the use of see through or revealing clothing. Attire with profane, vulgar, or drug/vape/alcohol references will not be permitted at any time. Undergarments should not be showing.
