Parents, we want to remind all of our scholars about their behavior at school. Please review our school student code of conduct with your child and speak to your child about his/her behavior at school. In addition, speak to your child about saying inappropriate things to others, keeping their hands to themselves, as well as reminding them of BULLYING, and that fighting doesn't resolve anything! PLEASE REVIEW WITH YOUR CHILD THE 2023-2024 PARENT INFORMATION GUIDE AND STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT ON PAGE 58 REGARDING FIGHTING. We do not like placing our scholars in ISS, or OSS or sending them to a Formal Hearing for not adhering to the student code of conduct. However, all of this can be avoided if your child follows school rules and student code of conduct. So please assist us in reinforcing these expectations.

If you don't have anything nice and pleasant to say to someone, keep your comments to yourself.

Please note that NO form of BULLYING will be tolerated and that both student and parent can be held accountable/liable for student actions.

ADDITIONALLY, PLEASE MONITOR YOUR CHILD SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING AND ACCOUNTS. A LOT OF WHAT WE DEAL WITH HERE AT SCHOOL STARTS FROM THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTINGS THAT GO UNMONITORED.

Parents and Guardians, checking out students before the end of the instructional school day harms your child's education, as they miss valuable instructional time. The content that your scholar is learning is more difficult than ever; therefore, it is very important for them to stay at school the entire day. Please plan all appointments after school hours and during school holidays and breaks.

SCHOLARS WHO ARE CHECKED OUT BEFORE 12:30 P.M. WILL BE COUNTED ABSENT FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. PLEASE KEEP OUR STUDENTS IN SCHOOL.

Any person checking out a student must be listed in the Parent Portal and have a valid government-issued photo ID. Please take a moment to add any adults who might need to check out your child. For safety reasons, we ask that all checkouts happen before 3:30 PM.

Parents, please encourage your scholar to read for a minimum of 30 minutes daily at home. During the morning, right after homeroom, our scholars begin their day with a corrective reading program called SRA-Corrective Reading. This program is leveled to meet our scholars where they are and move them from that point. The focus is to increase Literacy, Reading Fluency, and Comprehension. So, what is SRA?

SRA-Corrective Reading program

SRA Corrective Reading provides intensive Direct Instruction-based reading intervention for students in Grades 3-Adult who are reading below grade level. Four levels for decoding plus four for comprehension, which address the varied reading deficits and skill levels found among older students.

Why Literacy is Important-

Students who can't read effectively fail to grasp important concepts, score poorly on tests, and ultimately, fail to meet educational milestones. Literacy skills allow students to seek out information, explore subjects in-depth, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Our first meeting of the year is scheduled for this Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Thank you to those who have joined already! Please come join us. Elementary and middle school students are welcome spectators to high school athletic events in Newton County School System, as respectful partnerships among students, staff, parents, and the community are integral to student success. Yet, we must take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, which remains the district’s highest priority.

As an added measure of security, spectators will not be permitted to bring bookbags or large bags into athletic events. Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5" X 6.5" are acceptable. As a reminder, students under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Students who are not with a supervising adult will not be permitted in the stadium. Please note, that high school students are not acceptable substitutes for supervising adults. Thank you for your partnership and support.

PARENTS, PLEASE KNOW THAT ALL STUDENTS MUST LEAVE AND COME BACK TO THE GAME, AS THERE WILL BE NO SUPERVISION WHILE WE ARE SETTING UP FOR THE GAME.

The official sporting season is here, and we want to ensure that all sporting events here at Clements Middle School are safe and enjoyable as we cheer all our teams to victory. With that, please review the information below regarding conduct at all sporting events for all spectators and fans. Game times are from 5:00-7:30. Scholars who are attending home games must have their ride here to pick them up by 7:30 p.m. Those scholars who are not picked up by 7:30 will not be allowed to attend future home games.

The GHSA and its member schools have made a commitment to promote good sportsmanship by students/athletes, coaches, and spectators at all GHSA-sanctioned events. Profanity, degrading remarks, and intimidating actions directed at officials, competitors, or other spectators will not be tolerated, and are grounds for removal from the event site. Spectators are not allowed to enter the competition area prior to, during, or after the conclusion of the contest. Violators are subject to removal from the venue. Thank you for your cooperation in the promotion of good sportsmanship at today’s event.

Parents, in our continued effort to ensure that all of our scholars remain safe at school, only clear water bottles are allowed. We need to be able to see what's in the bottle for safety reasons. Thank you for understanding.
