Bordeaux Elementary School
Weekly Update - February 20, 2024
Dear Bordeaux Families -
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. It’s been a strange couple weeks, but hopefully we’ll be back into a routine soon. This last week we celebrated the 100th day of school. This means we have completed more than ½ the year, but also that we still have a lot of learning to accomplish between now and June. Please continue setting aside time each evening to have your students read from the books they bring home in their book bags. This can be silent reading, reading to them, or having them read out loud to you. It’s also a good idea to have your student talk about their books. Ask them about the characters, what’s happening, where the story is taking place, or what the problem in the story is. If you are a reader yourself, modeling a quiet reading time goes a long way. If you’re not yet someone who reads for pleasure, it’s never too late to start. Creating a community of learners starts at home.
We have a full three days followed by an early release next Friday, March 1st for teacher professional development. I know there have been two 12:30 early release days close together, but two weeks ago was due to a snow day make-up. Wednesday there is a PTSO meeting at 6:00 PM in the library. On Thursday, 3rd grade has a basketball game and on Friday the 4th graders will compete against each other.
We’ll do our best to get the most out of the next three days and as always it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
