Message from Principal Thill
Dear Jefferson Families:
Jefferson Elementary School has achieved a commendable designation on the Illinois School Report Card. It's especially noteworthy that the school is less than one point away from reaching the Exemplary designation, showcasing the dedication of everyone involved.
Our school is a home away from home for our students and staff, and we are committed to providing a positive, safe, and nurturing environment that fosters success. Our staff provides all students with a supportive, caring environment that develops self-esteem, self-motivation, and a sense of responsibility.
The educational environment and teaching strategies are designed to meet the goals and objectives of a strong curriculum. Our major goal is to prepare students to become responsible and productive members of society. We believe that education is a cooperative effort among home, school, and community.
On our 2023 Report Card, we are proud to see Jefferson's proficiency scores in ELA and Math, as well as our growth score in ELA. These results reflect the rigorous curriculum and ambitious teaching of our staff.
Our school community is dedicated to helping Jefferson reach the Exemplary status. To continue our momentum toward exemplary status our school is committed to improving school attendance and providing engaging math instruction.

Attendance Matters
Facts about Good Attendance
One of our focuses this year is student attendance. When parents call their child in sick, their child will have an excused absence. If their child is absent and there is no message letting us know why, it is considered an unexcused absence. Being a chronic absentee combines the excused and unexcused absences together. Chronic absentees are at risk of academic and social problems. We need you to bring your child to school daily in order for your child to succeed.
Absentee Rate Per Grade
Our 4th grade students won the Attendance Incentive for the month of November. Congratulations 4th grade parents! Keep up the good work!
Erin's Law Presentation
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12 grade. Jefferson's Erin's Law presentation will be held on Wednesday December 13th, 2023. If you prefer your child to opt-out of the presentation, please sign and return the opt out letter that will be sent home Wednesday December 6th, 2023 or email your child's teacher.

Our Roaring Staff
