Message From Dr. Cole, CEO
Dear TLA Families,
Can you believe the school year is already nearing the final quarter for the year? This year continues to fly by and has been filled with lots of joy and learning! I hope you all are getting ready for Spring and hopefully some warmer weather.
I wanted to share some news with you. Our 6th-12th grade principal, Mrs. El-Amin, has decided not to return to The Lincoln Academy next year. We are so thankful for all Mrs. El-Amin has done for TLA and we know this has been a difficult decision for her. Your support and understanding is greatly appreciated. Please know we plan to begin our principal search now and fully anticipate finding a highly qualified candidate who will help TLA continue to shine.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly - kristi.cole@tlabeloit.com. Again, we thank you for your continued support and feedback to help TLA continue to grow and flourish. Your scholars are such a gift and we look forward to finishing the year strong. Go Lions!

Culture Connections
Mr. Anderson's Message
Please remind your scholars that when riding the bus, there is absolutely no eating. We've been informed that many food wrappers have been left behind on the bus. Thanks for your support in our effort to show responsibility on the bus.
Mr. Cieplewski's Message
This Monday we finally have all of the supplies to start the R.O.A.R. We had so many scholars ask about their lanyards and punch cards and can’t wait to roll it out. We have exciting prizes and your scholars will need to earn their punches to purchase their prize.
Next week we start state testing. Your scholars have worked so hard all year and we are excited to see what they have learned in the classroom and apply it to their test. Once again, thank you all for your partnership in making TLA great.
Career Chat with Ms. Benisch
Healthcare
Our March career focus is Healthcare. We have a group of high school scholars who took Medical Terminology last semester and are taking Nursing Assistant this semester at Blackhawk Technical College. The scholars are currently in the class portion of the program and will start clinicals in April. The group is looking forward to getting jobs once they earn their certificate!
Future Career Self-Portraits
Third grade scholars have been busy painting future career self portraits in Art. Scholars painted their portraits to be coaches, teachers, astronauts, illustrators, athletes and more. This project will be added as an artifact to their portfolio.
Apprenticeships
A representative from Department of Workforce Development came to The Lincoln Academy to talk to scholars about registered apprenticeships after high school. He talked about the variety of pathways in which apprenticeships are available, the requirements to get in, and how the program works. The representative shared the importance of doing well on the ACT so that you meet the minimum math requirements to get in. Each apprenticeship pathway has slightly different requirements. Scholars did a great job asking questions to expand their knowledge of apprenticeships.
Beloit College Visit
All 7th grade and a few high school scholars visited Beloit College this week. Scholars were given a tour of the campus and a presentation about the college and requirements to get in. Scholars were given a booklet with all the stops on the tour that they were able to label with a sticker at each spot.

When Should My Child Stay Home from School?
Sometimes illnesses arise and sickness is unpredictable. It can be challenging to know when to keep your scholar home and when they can return to school. Here is a useful visualization to answer any uncertainties. Please feel free to contact the school nurse, Mrs. Zeilinger, Lexi.zeilinger@tlabeloit.com or (608) 690-5112, or reach out to your pediatrician if you have any questions.
Yearbooks Will Be Distributed in Summer
Sports
Spring sports are just around the corner. This spring we look forward to hosting baseball, soccer (club), softball, and baseball. To be eligible to participate in a spring sport scholars must be academically eligible, submit all required athletic forms (Skyward), have an up-to-date sports physical, and pay their athletic fees. Mr. Clothier will be emailing all scholars who have signed up for a spring sport. If you did not receive an email, you are not rostered and need to contact Athletic Director Mr. Clothier as soon as possible.
