What is Verification?

Verification is the required annual process of confirming the information on a sampling of applications approved for free or reduced-price meal benefits. Verification must include confirmation of either:

• Income eligibility;

• Receipt of assistance under SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, FDPIR, Medicaid Free or

• Other Source Categorical Eligibility

Verification must also include confirmation of any other information required on the application, such as household size.

ONLY schools that collect meal applications for student pricing conduct the verification process.

Who submits the Verification Report? Everyone!

Submit Verification Report, which will include:

Enrolled Students
Students in CEP/P2 program
Students directly certified
Student eligible for free/reduced-price by application
Results of Direct Verification

Non-Pricing schools submit directly certified student data and enrollment as of October 31.
RCCIs who do not collect meal applications for day students will submit enrollment as of October 31.
Pricing schools that collect meal applications will also submit the results of the verification process.

Recordkeeping/Reporting

CEs must retain the Verification Report|Individual Household Form for each household verified.
The Verification Report JotForm will open in TX-UNPS on November 1 and is due November 28, 2023.
The CE must retain records with supporting forms for 5 years (public and charter schools) or 3 years (private and Residential Child Care Institutions) Supporting documentation required for all data submitted including enrollment.
