MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MR. JOHN PISCHE, SCIENCE TEACHER AT STRONGSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Mr. John Pische teaches science at Strongsville High School. Mr. Pische is an SHS Alum (Class of ‘06) and earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baldwin Wallace University. He is in his tenth year teaching, and has been working for six years in our District.
“I am a science teacher at Strongsville High School, but also certified as an intervention specialist. I have a great connection with my co-teacher - Mrs. Melissa Kelly - and have been working with her for the past four years. This collaboration has helped me as a teacher - having someone to bounce ideas off of and finding different ways to support each other in the classroom - and it has also been beneficial for the students in our classes. They can see examples of the two of us working together and how that translates to success in our teaching and learning. We have a great Biology Teacher Based Team where we all appreciate and value each other and I enjoy working with all of my colleagues in the science department,” said Mr. Pische.
Thank you Mr. Pische for your continued collaboration with your colleagues, which helps to build stronger learning opportunities for your students! #BeTheDifference
POLARIS PALOOZA AT SMS
Yesterday, Strongsville Middle School hosted the 3rd annual “Polaris Palooza.” Polaris Palooza is a middle school robotics competition where over 90 eighth graders representing five local school districts (Brooklyn, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls and Strongsville) faced off in hands-on, high-stakes events.
The fast-paced MADGRAB challenge allowed participants to design and program their robots autonomously to scoop as many balls as possible while competing in an action-packed arena setting.
Middle school teams also tested their dragster car designs in the longest distance challenge
All attendees had the opportunity to test exciting new technology with drones and student-made robotic games in the "Innovation Nation" area
This was a great showcase of what the students have learned in their middle school Project Lead the Way STEM classes, through practical, hands-on learning opportunities!
